    Empowering transgender and nonbinary cardholders
    to use their True Name®

MasterCard is in competition to be the wokest of the woke.

For many in the LGBTQIA+ community, the name on their credit, debit or prepaid card does not reflect their true identity, causing painful daily reminders of a conflict between their true name and the name on their card. In 2019, we worked to ease this pain point by creating True Name, a first of its kind feature that makes secure payments truly safe for all.

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

While virtue signaling it is still a private company

Seems like they are just trying to accommodate the wishes of their customers.

Looks like capitalism and, if anything, a non-political position. It would be absurd to make transgenders, or anyone that has changed their name, keep their “dead name” on their credit card.

I don't know of anyone who has legally changed their name is made to keep their "dead name" (Drama Queens are in the house!) on a credit card.

I’m not going to deny that MasterCard is cynically virtue signaling to make a profit, but the right-wingers that insist on calling Caitlyn Jenner, Bruce, even though Caitlyn is her legal name, are cruel, childish and vile human beings.

It's not horrible, but it looks like it could create weird hoops. I looked, essentially, your legal name is still linked to the account, in the background (as well it should be). For most day-to-day activity, it's not going to be an issue. However, certain online forms might still require the legal name, and if a merchant ends up comparing to a legal document, say a drivers license, they'll have to call a phone-number on the card to verify the legal name.

So, while it may reduce the smaller day-to-day annoyances, it can end up creating an opportunity for much larger special instance harassment and/or callouts.

The fact that seeing one's legal name is considered a hardship is just nutty. If it's that big of a deal to them then they should simply have it legally changed to whatever they want. The fees to do so are less than $200 in most states.

Next up, that puts an undo hardship on women and minorities so it is racist/sexist.

He had is name legally changed so refusal to use it is rather petty. And FWIU, you'll find a whole lot of blacks that will still refer to him as "Bruce" but I guess that means they're right wingers.
