So, for example, the standard method of calling the virus after it's actual or perceived origin was deemed racist by people who decide things are racist these days. This gets politicized. So now, one-side holds that even really looking at the origin is racist, while the other side doubles down on the origin, and even starts using generally racist language to things like "kung-flu." At that point though, is the language what it is because they actually feel like insulting the chinese, or because doing so "triggers" the left?
It's like the use of "Drumpf". Honestly, making fun of someone's last name is xenophobic. Dragging up an old ancestral family name in order to make fun of it is even worse. But, many liberals did that just because they thought it would tweak Trump or conservatives. (on the other forum, one guy even had a web-application that automatically changed Trump to Drumpf. Was he xenophobic? Probably not, but it had that same feeling as calling covid the kung-flu.
