OK, here's the deal....
Governor Abbott line-item vetoed the House's operating budget.
It expires August 31.
Currently, the disappeared Democrats are operating on $218/day per deim.
On September 1, they no longer get funds.
Not only that, but all of their office budgets, employees, staff members - no pay.
I suspect things may try to come back to normal on or shortly after September 1.
ALSO, the Texas Senate has continued to work through the special session, which ended, and a second special session began.
They have voted on all of their issue, passed bills, and are waiting for the House to take them up.
When the Democrats return (assuming they will) the votes are in the House to take up and approve everything the Senate has passed.
We shall see.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

This whole stunt has not worked the way the Democrats planned.
First their little trip packed together in that flight to D.C. was likely a super-spreader event. At the very least six of them got the Chicom coronavirus which they spread to some in Pelosi's staff as well as old Joe's.
Second, they expected to be wined and dined while in D.C., to be treated like celebrities with the MSM falling over their every word. That didn't happen. After their arrival they were largely ignored primarily because old Joe and the Democrats there had moved on from their claims about these voting laws[1.] and onto pushing the multi-trillion pork laden Infrastructure bill and similar things. So the runaway Texans had little to do but sightsee and watch TV in their hotel rooms.
1. likely due to grossly overplaying their hand to the point even their allies in the MSM were forced to call B.S. on their rhetoric.

And you know it WILL be an issue in local elections.
Meanwhile, some of the Texas House Democrats seem to be very concerned about the COVID implications of Biden's "open borders" policy. Their (border) towns are being flooded with COVID positive illegals who are being put up in hotels by Soros, and allowed to freely shop local stores and restaurants.

Originally posted by rogue06 View PostOld Joe's keepers have announced that they are "taking the first steps toward requiring nearly all foreign visitors to the U.S. to be vaccinated for the coronavirus."
Note the word "nearly." That is because that while they will require those who legally enter the U.S. to be vaccinated, those that enter illegally, and who are released and get stuffed into busses to be shipped all over the country, will face no such restriction. They aren't even being tested to see if they're sick (Mexico has been experiencing a major resurgence in cases rivaling anything seen so far)
As noted, the government won't even test them before releasing them unless they are obviously sick. A few cities test those bussed in like Brownsville, Texas, and they found that 6% are infected with Covid. After the cramped bus ride I'll bet that number would be much higher if they tested them a week later.
And so many are being shipped out to cities across the country that the bus companies are struggling to meet the demand. Each of these buses are potentially a super-spreader.
Greyhound for one is now telling the government they want evidence that the illegals they are shipping don't have the Chinese coronavirus. It should be interesting to see if they comply while simultaneously preparing policies that limit travel for those without proof of vaccination.

By the way, the Governor had ordered the Department of Public Safety and the Texas Rangers to round up these stray Democrats and arrest them, and bring them back to work. (reminds me of my "skipping school" days, and the mean old truant officer)
A judge put a stay on that order, but last night, the Texas Supreme Court struck down that stay, so the DPS and Texas Rangers are on the hunt!!!
All of the Democrats had come back to Texas because of that Judge's stay. The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

AUSTIN, Texas — The Texas House of Representatives on Tuesday authorized state law enforcement to round up and potentially arrest absentee Democrats who fled the Republican-led chamber to block action on polarizing election legislation.
The 80-12 vote empowered the House sergeant-at-arms to dispatch law enforcement officers to compel the attendance of missing members “under warrant of arrest, if necessary.”
After the vote, Dade Phelan, the speaker of the Texas House, signed 52 civil arrest warrants which will be delivered to the House Sergeant-at-Arms Wednesday morning for service, Enrique Marquez, the speaker’s communications director, said in an email.
The move by the Texas House, sitting in Austin, came hours after the all-Republican Texas Supreme Court, acting on a petition by Gov. Greg Abbott and Mr. Phelan, overturned an earlier ruling. That ruling, from a district court in Austin’s home county of Travis, had determined that the two officials, both Republicans, did not have the authority to order the arrest of their fellow elected officials.
