Jordan Peterson, a professor of psychology at the University of Toronto, and popular author, has just dared his government to "just try and regulate [his] YouTube channel and see what happens" in response to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's support for what many are calling the “censorship bill” which, if passed, has the potential to regulate user-generated social media content and even subject some users to broadcasting regulations if they have a large audience.
A member of Trudeau’s cabinet, Steven Guilbeault, told CTV News, that the law "should" regulate content created by those "acting like broadcasters," who have "millions of viewers" and who are "generating a lot of money on social media." After public reaction Guilbeault tried to walk back his comments.
