One of my buddies got a first year Citation as a gift when he graduated college. It was the epitome of the old adage about never getting a car the year it is first introduced. Wait until they get the bugs worked out.

In any case, this was one of my High School friends who ended up drinking themselves to death in their early 30s. After he lost his job, got divorced and moved back home[1], the idiot ended up trading his car in for a VCR.

While the car had issues (that would have taken about two or three hundred dollars to fix), trading it for a used VCR was hardly a great move.

          1. He had always been a very heavy beer and wine drinker but after discovering Jack Daniels he quite literally became a falling down drunk and went from being his company's "golden boy" to being fired in six short months.

You asked the question in your OP "Can anyone think of what actions over, say, the last 4 years, could have made people think that violent political protests are OK?"

How many protests in the US over the present situation between Israel and Palestine have shown the degree of violence that [for example] some of the protests over the previous four years have shown? E.g. Charlottesville and some of the BLM protests.

I don't know. That is why I asked the question.

At least 570 BLM protests turned violent between 24 May and 22 August. (Or almost 6 a day)

                I didn't ask that.

                  Oh, I misread your question.

So I'll go back. Why is your question relevant?

In some places, such as Portland, you had rioting going on nightly for months on end.

What relevance does that have to the present protests regarding current the Israeli/Palestine conflicts? Have those protests been violent? I don't know that is why I am asking the question.

If they have been violent, to what extent?

I have and none of the links on Fox News look overly violent.

As I noted initially, some clashes are evident, but given that emotions are running high on both sides, that is to be expected.

So, are you trying to ignore the question in the OP by challenging that the violence isn't big enough to ask it?

I am trying to get you to justify it.

With regard to the recent protests re Israel/Palestine where is this violence?

I posted the link. The violence was there. If you don't think it's enough to justify the question, that's on you.
