More lock downs result in more unemployment.

Another interesting study would be higher crime rates and poverty levels.

Just saw the thread. Interesting. There are probably many reasons, some good, some bad. One comment I have is that correlation does not necessarily imply causation. poorer people tend to benefit from Democratic or prefer Democratics policies. So all that chart may be capturing is the difference in how poorer populations tend to vote over more wealthy or middle class populations.

(At this point, having just seen the OP, I have NOT yet taken the time to determine if that hypothesis holds up)

At the federal level it's well-known that the data over time makes it pretty clear that the country overall does better in economic stats when Dems are in charge.

If you wanted to demonstrate differently at the state level you would need to look at data over time in red vs blue states, not a one-off during an unusual period where some states are in lockdown and others not.

"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell
"[Capitalism] as it exists today is, in my opinion, the real source of evils. I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy" - Albert Einstein

State is a better and more accurate measure. There are too many nuances and variables on a federal level, not the least of which is central bank policy.

Yeah - I think the point is that lockdowns impact the economy - and there is no doubt they do. If that is the explanation, then the Red states are indeed aptly colored, they keep their economies going on the blood of those they give over to Covid.

That would have been a clever moral indictment if a lot of the blue states with the strictest covid mandates didn't have some the highest fatality rates.

Joe recently said the economy is moving in the right direction, and that we should be happy. And then he said the economy is doing terribly, and it's all President Trump's fault.

Yeah, if the economy is doing so great, why throw tons of money at it? Oh, wait... the economy sucks, so it needs help.

And he stumbled through it again like he didn't know his material.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

In which post have I attacked or been uncivil to a person posting or that I've been talking to? The idea that the economy is more important than the lives of those that die as a consequence of avoiding lockdowns is one I am critical of, and I certainly never made a promise never to be critical of an idea put forward on this website. The goal is simply to avoid being hostile to anyone if we disagree, or even if they become hostile or derogatory towards me. Did you somehow get the impression something else was what I was trying to accomplish?

Biden left out the word 'more'. He's made the comment many times without the gaffe. It means nothing other that that the writer of tha article has a distorted view of why Trump came under so much criticism, is bitter about it, and is seeking revenge over it.
