Texas Democrat Resigns after Calling Tim Scott an ‘Oreo’

AS well he should - and not just ANY Democrat, but a Democrat Party County Chair.

The Texas Democratic leader who called Senator Tim Scott an “oreo” has resigned in response to mounting pressure from state officials on both sides of the aisle.

“I am deeply and sincerely sorry for my inappropriate and hurtful use of racist term I used to describe Sen. Tim Scott on my personal Facebook page. It was insensitive, and I have embarrassed myself and my party by its use,” Lamar County Democratic Party Chairman Gary O’Connor told the Washington Examiner Tuesday.

“As a result, I feel compelled to offer my resignation as chair of the Lamar County Democratic Party for consideration by the County Executive Committee,” O’Connor said.

After Scott delivered the Republican rebuttal to President Joe Biden’s joint address to Congress, O’Connor labeled the senator an “Oreo”, referring to a black individual who is perceived as displaying characteristics of a white person.

“I had hoped that Scott might show some common sense, but it seems clear he is little more than an oreo with no real principles,” the Texas Democrat commented.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott and other political officials slammed O’Connor’s words on social media.

Leftists are getting a bit sloppy. I think they may be getting too politically complacent and the veil is slipping off.

Have to give him credit, though, as this is one of the few actual apologies I've seen rather than the standard "I'm sorry you were offended" non-apology we usually get from politicians.

They usually get away with such slurs. Ask folks like Michael Steele.

Moreover this isn't the first time Smith has been the target of liberal racism.

Being the only black Republican Senator, the left hates him and seems him as "their token black".

That's a decent apology. Good job on that.

Oreo is even more of a racial slur than Uncle Tom. He's not grovelling for saying it, it's that he didn't uphold the phony pretense of his leftist base and let the mask slip off. But that's how they really think deep down, and that's the type of deep feelings they project onto their political opponents when they incessantly cry racists.

Any apology that doesn't contain a "but" or "if" is a good start!

When Republicans get offended, Democrats resign in apology for having offended them.

When Democrats get offended, Republicans get excited for having "triggered the libs".

The spinelessness of the Dems makes me sad, but so does the viciousness of the Republicans.

Thats ok. The dems refused to accept his resignation for racial slurs.

My question to you is what is wrong about holding Democrats to the standards they demand of others?

That puts me in mind of a somewhat racist joke that was altered after 2008.

Question: What do you call a black man in a suit?

                      Answer: Mr President.

Now I guess the correct answer (from the democrats) is "Uncle tim" or "Oreo". Since you joined in, do you condemn the racial insults hurled at Tim Scott? Do you think it is racist?

One wonders why you felt the need to tell a joke after acknowledging that it's racist.

The fact that you decide to bring up a racist joke is rather telling.
