Medical ruling: Capitol cop Sicknick died of natural causes

WASHINGTON (AP) — Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick, who was injured while confronting rioters during the Jan. 6 insurrection, suffered a stroke and died from natural causes, the Washington, D.C., medical examiner's office ruled Monday, a finding that lessens the chances that anyone will be charged in his death

Investigators initially believed the officer was hit in the head with a fire extinguisher, based on statements collected early in the investigation, according to two people familiar with the case. And they later thought the 42-year-old Sicknick may have ingested a chemical substance — possibly bear spray — that may have contributed to his death.

But the determination of a natural cause of death means the medical examiner found that a medical condition alone caused his death — it was not brought on by an injury. The determination is likely to significantly inhibit the ability of federal prosecutors to bring homicide charges in Sicknick’s death.

U.S. Capitol Police said that the agency accepted the medical examiner's findings but that the ruling didn't change the fact that Sicknick had died in the line of duty, “courageously defending Congress and the Capitol.”

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

The Democrats used his death directly in their attempted case against Trump. Yet another example of how they didn't bother to wait for facts to push their politics.

EGGzackly --- and we had people here on Tweb Trump-eting this same thing -- he was bludgeoned to death by a fire extinguisher -- which turned out to be a flat out lie.

It won't matter. It will still be Trump's fault.

The death was the result of natural causes -- "a medical condition alone caused his death."

I wonder how many politicians and AntiTrumpers will still hold that it was the insurrection that killed him. His own family, early on, had indicated it was a health issue.

Depending on the poll between a third and 40% of those folks still believe Trump colluded with Putin in spite of that house of cards being blasted away by hurricane force winds that was the Mueller Report and Mueller's congressional testimony.

The same goes for the "Hands up, Don't shoot" hoax that came out of Ferguson. There are still a lot of people who insist that Brown was shot after he surrendered and had his hands up in spite of all the evidence that wasn't even close to what happened. IIRC, his name is still on many of these lists of innocent black people unjustly shot by the police.

So, yeah. There will still be a significant number of people who will still declare that Sicknick was murdered by pro-Trump rioters. And I suspect most of them won't have even heard about the medical examiner's report.

Because you know that the MSM isn't going to be admitting that the "bludgeoned to death" was a lie, and most of them knew it!

The medical examiner's report will likely be buried on page D-11 in contrast to the week's worth of headlines declaring he had been murdered by Trump supporters.

It's the reason they never pushed for the release of the report in the first place. It overturns their oh so carefully crafted narrative.

The Media Lied Repeatedly About Officer Brian Sicknick's Death. And They Just Got Caught.

It was crucial for liberal sectors of the media to invent and disseminate a harrowing lie about how Officer Brian Sicknick died. That is because he is the only one they could claim was killed by pro-Trump protesters at the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

So The New York Times on January 8 published an emotionally gut-wrenching but complete fiction that never had any evidence — that Officer Sicknick's skull was savagely bashed in with a fire extinguisher by a pro-Trump mob until he died — and, just like the now-discredited Russian bounty story also unveiled by that same paper, cable outlets and other media platforms repeated this lie over and over in the most emotionally manipulative way possible. Just watch a part of what they did and how:

As I detailed over and over when examining this story, there were so many reasons to doubt this storyline from the start. Nobody on the record claimed it happened. The autopsy found no blunt trauma to the head. Sicknick's own family kept urging the press to stop spreading this story because he called them the night of January 6 and told them he was fine — obviously inconsistent with the media's claim that he died by having his skull bashed in — and his own mother kept saying that she believed he died of a stroke.

But the gruesome story of Sicknick's “murder” was too valuable to allow any questioning. It was weaponized over and over to depict the pro-Trump mob not as just violent but barbaric and murderous, because if Sicknick weren't murdered by them, then nobody was (without Sicknick, the only ones killed were four pro-Trump supporters: two who died of a heart attack, one from an amphetamine overdose, and the other, Ashli Babbitt, who was shot point blank in the neck by Capitol Police despite being unarmed). So crucial was this fairy tale about Sicknick that it made its way into the official record of President Trump's impeachment trial in the Senate, and they had Joe Biden himself recite from the script, even as clear facts mounted proving it was untrue......

And can anybody honestly suggest that the media wasn't out to get him - full throated and no holds barred?

In all seriousness, that should be scary to us all how the MSM manipulated the whole country with lies the way they did.

And I don't think anybody could even argue that it was "sloppy journalism" or even "bad journalism" --- it was pretty much guerilla warfare journalism, and, yeah --- this should be sobering to any honest citizen - because it could just as well be used against you (them) some day.

I notice that in this thread and the Maxine Waters thread the leftist residents of the site are conspicuously silent, nay, non-existent.
