I agree. Some veterinary surgeons consider such deliberate inbreeding of unhealthy traits [particularly in breeds such as the bulldog] to be tantamount to animal cruelty.

It is a few years old now [2013] but it is an interesting article. https://www.newscientist.com/article...man-evolution/

    Huh?

. And not off in "random deserts."
Yeah, they tend to be in Idaho and Utah deserts.

The husband will often be fairly well off and buy land adjacent to a small or mid-sized town, or even a farm. The same if it is a community of them (typically "unorthodox" Mormon followers). And while they usually have plenty of money it is also not uncommon for the younger wives to collect welfare, food stamps, Medicaid etc. by claiming to be single mothers.
I'm unsure what some extreme examples have to do with the countless normal people who practice polyamory. I'm almost willing to bet you yourself probably have at least one polyamorous person amongst your friend group (whether they tell you about it is another story).

I have attended Amish auctions raising money for their own victims of inbreeding.

Strictly that is many marriages. πολυγαμία/polygamy.

Polyandry is an interesting cultural phenomenon where the woman gets to have more than one man. How do some men here feel about that?

Lol given my dislike of it a comment like that would have me on the couch for a week.

    Only really if you're
talking multiple generations of incest. otherwise you're talking something with far less of a chance of passing on bad genetic defect and diseases, then when we allow black people or Ashkenazi Jews to marry and procreate. Also, that is not an issue with homosexual people who are in an incestuous relationship.

Cilantro stinks to me. It has a slightly soapy taste but the smell to me is just awful, I don't know how to describe it. I can take cilantro if it is thoroughly mixed into something like salsa so that the smell and taste is covered, but otherwise, phew!

I hear it is genetic. some gene determines whether cilantro smells and tastes good or bad to a person.

The closeness of the blood relationship is also a factor. Are those who have have expressed the "Urghh" response opposed to second or third cousins having a sexual relationship? Or is the concept of mother/son, father/daughter, or sister/brother incest the taboo most find so upsetting?

The irony is we interbreed animals for better traits.

Historically it is probable that many people did "interbreed" to some extent. If we consider the issues surrounding transport it is quite likely that in small villages or remote settlements the population would [in many instances] have been breeding individuals with whom they shared a blood line.

In some royal houses the belief of keeping the blood "pure" also led to a degree of inbreeding and while Carlos II of Spain is generally the "poster boy" to demonstrate the dangers of too much inbreeding, it should be noted that the Hapsburgs [along with other royal dynasties] also produced many intelligent and competent individuals from unions with their blood relatives.

And as has been noted [somewhere] go back far enough and we are all related.

And many inbred animal breeds end up having some really bad genetic defects and diseases.

The chances for genetic defects increases greatly with incest. Not to mention the psychological stress put on the child of such a twisted and sick relationship.
