  • Arkansas bans transgender surgeries and treatments....

For the life of me, see nothing wrong with this...

Arkansas becomes first state to ban transgender surgeries and treatments for minors after Senate overturns governor veto

Under the bill, physicians are banned from giving gender confirming hormone treatment, puberty blockers or surgery to those younger than 18, according to The Hill. The legislation also restricts doctors from giving recommendations to other providers for these treatments.

I'm still confused as to how one feels like a boy or girl. Isn't it just a genetic fact? Other than some really rare conditions where one's genotype and phenotype sex don't match. But that is very rare.

The Governor had vetoed this bill, claiming it was govt overreach that went against medical advice as well as against the decisions made by some families.

The legislature decided they should run other people's lives against the wishes of those people.

Maybe we will be seeing more boycotts of all things Arkansas in the near future.

The legislature answers to the people -- they can be voted out of office. Their job is to represent their constituents, not the loony left.

So, the legislature passed a bill - and ONE MAN vetoed it - so the legislature used their lawful political power to overturn the ONE MAN's decision.

That's the way this works. And, again, the legislators ultimately answer to the people, not to the governor.

We see case after case where GOP legislatures overturn the votes cast by their constituents.
Like in FL where voters wanted to give felons the right to vote, so legislators set up new roadblocks.
Or in states where voters wanted to have independent commissions set up voting districts, and legislators ignored that.
Or where GOP legislatures stripped duties from newly elected Dem governors.
Part of the GA voting law will give the GOP legislature the ability to confirm elections, and perhaps even overturn them.

The one man was the Governor, and he has that right and that responsibility.

Again, I am interested in seeing the response to this bill.
I don't imagine too many corporations would be interested in setting up offices to states like this.

This is child abuse, and seeing that most kids grow out of gender dysphoria, we should not allow irreversible procedures. Do you really think we should allow a 12 year old boy to have his genitals cut off?

I only know personally of one case in which the child became suicidal when facing puberty.
I am not in a position to judge what should be done in comparable cases, and think the parents and doctors and child should work together to find a solution.

What is the harm of allowing them to wait until adulthood?

The Governor is just a man.
And the legislature has the right and responsibility to override bills they think the governor should not have vetoed.
That's actually how the law is written, and how these things work.

I'm not so sure the woke crowd is SO woke that they agree that children should make permanent decisions over what may be temporary problems.
But, then again, the world seems to have gone nuts, and the inmates are running the asylum.

It's definitely a good thing for state politicians to be making medical decisions for other people's children. I trust them more than doctors to decide appropriate treatment. Who cares if they're going against the American Academy of Pediatrics and the America Psychological Association? It's not like professional organizations exist to inform politicians about professional interests. Another victory for small government!

It's politics! If the people want to trust the "professional organizations" more than their elected officials, there'll be another election just around the corner.

Elections can't undo death and suffering.

So, let's just mutilate children and figure it out later.
