Although T-web will have tough rules this thread can wander where it will, honestly.

    It doesn't matter.

Your photographs are interesting and your OP remarks about there being no English in Northern Ireland reminds me of an old joke.

Two men wearing balaclavas and brandishing pistols stop a man late one night on the streets of Belfast.

They ask "Are you a Protestant or a Catholic?"

        He answers "I'm a Jew" .

They reply "Yes yes but are you a Catholic or a Protestant Jew?"

Your wife's folks come from Ireland.......
Which parts? They are so different from each other.

I knew a tough lady who was security manager for a huge food-market retailer here. She was born in County Kerry in the late 40's. The reason I mention her is because when she first went to school at age 6yrs her elder sister had to show her how to use a toilet. The school had toilets! She and her two sisters knew what need and endurance were all about. Her one sister became a television producer, her other a successful barrister and she a head of security. Need and hardship can produce determination like none other.......

OK, I confess, I tried not to laugh, but failed.

              No, it's Loch.

(I actually visited Holy Loch very briefly in the early 70's when attached very briefly to the USS Canopus (AS-34))

I did love watching Dave Allen, sitting on that stool with the attached drink tray, showing off his absent finger and joking about the Papa.

Indeed and do not forget the Protestants he mercilessly parodied - in particular the late Rev Ian Paisley aka "the gaberdine foghorn" . Remember the horror spoofs as well? Taking the werewolf "walkies" and such.

He was a superb observer of life and spared no one.

After reading your first mention of Dave Allen, I turned on the telly last evening and a one hour program devoted to him and his humour was just starting, followed by yet another hour about his humour. How do these things happen? *shivers*
                    i enjoyed both.
Do you live in the UK?

                      That is a real coincidence.

In answer to your question no I do not live in the UK but I spent most of the 1980s there. I consider myself an Anglophile [despite the country's recent politics] and still listen to BBC radio. I also have many British friends, whom [until last year] I visited regularly.
