True, but not because you might have been thought of as English so much as just 'out of town'.
Out of town was dodgy to both sides.

We ran out of time and didn't go. I had business in Wales and we were behind schedule anyway.

I went round the Falls Road area back in 2003 and photographed several. Friends told me that the Catholic Murals are much much more artistic than the Protestant ones. True!
I saw Protestant Murals that looked as if kids had painted them, six fingers to a hand etc..... The Catholic Murals were/are amazingly artistic. It's not until you see a Mural of a Catholic warrior embracing (or saluting) a Palestinian warrior that you get the real sense of how the Catholics felt/feel.

The Walls......... ten foot high walls built to separate the Protestant part of an Estate from the Catholic part, with huge steel gates open but waiting to be slammed shut if the troubles start in that area.

I am considering making the attempt again, either this year or next.
