      President Trump?
I expect that he might indeed throw proven pederasts to the law... Who wouldn't?

On the one hand his brave determination to keep LGBT friends and colleagues close by, and on the other his strange ideas about how to treat women, President Trump has always seemed like two persons within one suit to me.

But Qanon has always just seemed to be a cheap propaganda machine run by cowards to us here (UK).

The survey undertaken by The Survey Center on American Life [SCAL] did not ask "Donald Trump has been secretly fighting a group of child sex traffickers that include prominent Democrats and Hollywood elites" because that is not a question.

The article from the SCAL noted that among a "constellation of connected claims" that "one core element is that Trump has been fighting a global ring of child traffickers with links to the political left." That is a result from the findings of the study. The article continues to reveal that, based on its study:

"There are considerable partisan differences in beliefs about the accuracy of this claim. Nearly three in 10 Republicans say the claim that Trump was fighting a global child sex trafficking ring is mostly (17 percent) or completely (12 percent) accurate. Roughly as many Republicans (30 percent) reject this claim as inaccurate, while 43 percent report being uncertain about it. Very few Democrats (7 percent) and independents (12 percent) believe this claim is accurate."

The question is why do "Nearly three in 10 Republicans say the claim that Trump was fighting a global child sex trafficking ring is mostly (17 percent) or completely (12 percent) accurate"? From where are these Republicans obtaining this information?

Clearly not all Republicans consider this claim to be veracious as "Roughly as many Republicans (30 percent) reject this claim as inaccurate". Yet alarmingly "43 percent report being uncertain about it." which indicates that there is a substantial number of Republican voters who are prepared to accept that this contention is possibly, if not entirely, true.

The questions relate to conspiracy theories promulgated by this entity known as QAnon.

It is not "true to an extent". A voting group of millions cannot be assumed to be complicit in the actions of a few.

However, I will agree there are some decidedly unsavoury characters on both sides of "the aisle".

It's a little confusing because American Enterprise Institute (conducted the poll) is reportedly right leaning, but the offshoot that wrote the article, Survey Center of American Life, leans left, IMO. I especially see bias when 'education level' is added to the breakdown. This way, the authors try to shame readers who are undecided on an issue to agree with the higher-educated ranks. IOW, "if you think there were irregularities in the 2020 election, then you are ignorant."

There are conspiracies flying all over the place in recent years. Qanon is one of many and I've run into it before. It is just another consequence of the lack of common sense the planet is suffering from.

Here we see a perfect example of Dishonest Pedantic Trolling from the Grammar Nazi. (Remember, Grammar Nazi-ism reeks of classism and white supremacy, a dangerous thing for a German to be associated with).

The survey asked respondents to answer how accurate statements were. Including: "Donald Trump has been secretly fighting a group of child sex traffickers that include prominent Democrats and Hollywood elites."

Does being pedantic about question/statement actually change the meaning of what the Grammar Nazi was responding to? No it does not. By asking whether the statement was accurate or not, they essentially put forward the statement as a yes/no question (with degrees of certainty).

It's important to note that communication is designed to transmit information. If the recipient received that information, and understood it, then the communication was successful, and pedantic statements serve as a red herring.

This is why I'm guessing they didn't specifically reference Qanon. I would imagine there are a whole lot of disillusioned Qanon adherents out there now and that number would have been significantly lower. However, many Trump supporters are aware of Epstein and his connections to the Clintons.

I actually am not surprised Qanon was so easy to capture the political right. The revelations of how partisan and corrupt the intelligence community was must have been quite a blow to many conservatives. The thought that there were uncorrupt folks still in those agencies fighting the corruption was probably a bit of cognitive dissonance. Even I got fooled by Barr and Durham in the beginning, and I was under no such illusion about the intelligence community being corrupt prior.

Tell me, what happened that made you such a bitter old lady?
Do you really think it is remotely realistic to accuse Hillary of ripping off the face of a child, dancing around with it and then eating the child?

Yes there have been accusations against Dems, but some, like Al Franken, were forced out before any investigations were done. I can't recall any Dems faced with factual accusations of pedophilia, and a google search only finds the vile and baseless assertions of Qanon, which are widely believed by conservatives, especially Trump supporters.

Tell me, why do you insult posters like me? I am not remotely bitter and don't consider myself old.
How is it bitter to point out that there is a years-long sex scandal involving a sitting Congressman that has not been fully investigated?

If "Donald Trump has been secretly fighting a group of child sex traffickers that include prominent Democrats and Hollywood elites" didn't originate with QAnon, I don't know where it originated. By listing GOP pedophiles, I showed you that there's no evidence to suggest Democrats have the edge in the creepy pervert department.

Not specifically mentioning Qanon clouds the issue because a lot of Trump supporters know the details of Epstein and his connection to prominent democrats, particularly the Clintons, so it's difficult to parse exactly what they believe without distinguishing it from Q. As I said, I doubt there are very many Trump supporters that buy into Q now, so there's likely overlap with the two subjects. It's deceptive, and I believe may have been intentional. Obviously Trump was battling opposition on both party sides, so your whataboutism would be relevant had the survey instead been: "Donald Trump has been secretly fighting a group of child sex traffickers that include prominent Democrats, Republicans, and Hollywood elites," or just simply said "politicians." Unfortunately they didn't ask it that way, so no one cares about Republicans except you in this regard.

Yes, the "Intelligence" departments are the armpit of the deep state. And it makes sense because the people there are generally smart enough to keep low profiles and not be purged.

I was simply describing a depraved Qanon slander about Clinton that I keep running into.
And yes, it is stunning that anyone would believe such a thing, but they do, including Marjorie Taylor Greene.
And pointing out the existence of this stunningly depraved slander does not make me a bitter old woman.

And in your confused little liberal mind, you somehow believe that represents all conservatives?

This is that game where liberals will use the very worst example of the extreme right to try to paint the rest of us like that, and we can loudly and clearly denounce that person without hesitation.

On the other hand, I can denounce Black Lives Matter's Marxist agenda, and the liberals fall all over themselves defending that crap, even calling the riots "mostly peaceful".

Well, the Republicans in the House who represent conservatives refused to deny Marjorie Taylor Greene committee assignments, and she is a Qanon supporter who referenced this horrid claim on her Facebook page. Republicans elected this woman (!), so it is fair to wonder not if, but how far this muck has seeped into conservative minds.

Republican Congressman have refused to do anything about Greene, because they think Republican voters don't want them to.

So while I agree that ALL conservatives don't accept these Qanon claims, it is obvious that a significant proportion think that Qanon is true or likely true, based on polling and the signs they carried on Jan 6 and how they vote and what they have been saying at CPAC.

I agree it may be the worst example, but the GOP leaders who are coming down hardest on this are the ones being censured by their State GOP Parties.

As for BLM, I already posted a link to a map of the USA with every BLM protest, labeled for size, location and associated violence. There were only a very small number labelled for violence. The media of course report the violence, because peaceful demonstrations are boring as news items especially when there is one after another, so the general public, especially those glued to Fox, get the wrong impression of what went down. Let me add that most of the churches around here, including mine, have BLM signs on their front lawns.
