    California is certifiably insane.

California Bill Would Fine Stores $1,000 for Having Separate Boys and Girls Sections

By Matt Margolis Feb 24, 2021 5:34 PM ET

    (AP Photo/Richard Drew)
With all other problems in their state solved, California Assembly Members Evan Low (D–Cupertino) and Cristina Garcia (D–Los Angeles) have introduced a bill that would require all stores to have a unisex section for children’s clothing and products in the name of “inclusivity” or whatever.

“Brick-and-mortar shops would have to display the majority of their products and clothing aimed at children in one undivided, unisex area on the sales floor,” reports Reason. “They’d also be barred from putting up signage that would indicate whether a product was intended for a boy or girl.”

The bill doesn’t just target brick-and-mortar shops either. California-based retailers would also be required to include a page on their website that presents the aforementioned products in a gender-neutral way, with the section being titled “kids,” “unisex,” or “gender-neutral.”

Low introduced a similar bill last year, arguing that children must be “able to express themselves without bias,” but the bill was sidelined to prioritize COVID-related efforts.

As ridiculous as this idea is, what’s even more offensive is that stores that dare to keep dresses in a separate girls’ section would be subject to a $1,000 fine. The policy would only apply to stores with over 500 employees.

That way they don't have to try to figure out in which section Mr Potato Head should be placed. But, he's being neutered anyway, so....

Another reason to not associate myself with the label "liberal" or "Democrat", like I needed more reasons.

They are determined to create a generation of Neuters who are all completely lacking of any identity that they can mold them into good obedient political puppets.

The box still has "Mr. Potato Head" on it.

It's like patting a child on the head and appearing to concede to the child without doing it just to get the child to be quiet.

Many toy stores have already done so. For instance putting dolls on on side or end of the aisle and "action figures" on the other.

But it is just Big Government trying to micromanage how stores display their merchandise that'll only serve to make it harder for customers to find what they're looking for. Of course the stores might like that since it'll keep the customers in the stores longer and possibly seeing something more to buy while they search.

Not any more: Hasbro rebrands Potato Head toys with gender-neutral name. No more Mr. or Mrs. Potato Head. It's just "Potato Head" now.

They'll probably recall those boxes and replace them with the neutered version. The decision to neuter Mr Potato Head has already been announced.

Wait until you see what happens nationally if the Dems pass the Equality Act.

They are apparently backing off now and saying it is only the Brand Name that will be "Potato Head" but they will keep the Mr and Mrs on the individual toy boxes. I think they got way too much ridicule and pushback at their attempted "wokeness" than they expected.

Honestly, that particular toy made no real sense being "mr" and "mrs" (except that is how it originally started out).

Originally it was literally accessories you stuck into a real potato to give them face, hands, and arms. Later it became a potato shaped piece of plastic.

There was no reason other than being able to sell 2 sets of accessories separately that they needed a "Mr." and "Mrs." version. They could have easily made a potato head with just a slew of accessories in one box. It in fact makes perfect sense to me, sell a potato head, and let the kid choose what they want to make at any point in time.

That's not from a woke perspective, just a "let them play" perspective. Buy two, this game it's husband wife, next time its two action hero guys. It's like lego...you don't need boys legos and girls legos. They are blocks with connectors on them....there really is no need to separate those....

Excellent summary, but not quite woke enough.

Lol. That's cause it wasn't about being woke. It was just looking at that particular toy and going "Why is it broken up like that?" I actually support going from "mr/mrs" to just "Potato head" because it makes practical sense.
