  • THIS is strange....

He also said he had no advance planning on how to deal with such a charge on the building. Babbitt and the crowd she joined had been heading for the passage that was being used to evacuate the House floor.

The officer said he had used tables and chairs to barricade the door to the highly restricted area and said he had 31 rounds in his gun. The officer said he also thought he heard that shots had been fired elsewhere in the Capitol earlier in the siege.

"No advance planning" - I bet that's gonna change.
"31 rounds" --- wow.... this is what that looks like...

Not sure what your source is, but the NYT reported that "He had 31 rounds for his service weapon, and he has told others that he feared he might need them all." Implying that he had a spare magazine.

(Pardon me for taking it too seriously if you were just joking.)

Sorry - I always try to include the source - that one was the Daily Mail, but I saw other sources quoting that same thing -- I think it's a case of reporters not having a clue about guns.

It wasn't so much a joke as an observation that it was poor reporting.

And bless you for saying 'magazine' instead of 'clip'.

Especially poor, since their source was the NYT, which didn't make that mistake.

I have two guns myself. One came with two magazines, and the other has too many rounds in its magazine for me to buy a spare (here in California).

Yeah - just dumb. I try to find multiple sources, and ignore the ones that will be perceived as leaning hard right or hard left.

I have a whole ARSENAL, according to one poster here.

In fact, I think it was Starlight who went on one of his psychotic rants about the yuge arsenal I have with the elaborate panic room.

(we have one bathroom closet where I keep some weapons, and the door actually locks)

Feel free to bookmark anything I say. I have not defended or condemned any police action here. I have only said it looks like the guy was way too nervous for a trained police officer, but then I myself am not one nor have been under that pressure so I can't really judge what he did. But it did look deliberate to me and not an accident since he was aiming at her for several seconds and then actually stepped forward to shoot her. I don't know if it was justified, but the woman should not have been there in the first place. None of them should. I think they all should be arrested.

The man's mother is a racist. (He recently admitted that she used the phrase "S*****le country", which we know is a racist term). So, it's probably a product of his raising.

Quite honestly, it surprised me a little that he admitted that, or that, in any way, he thought it helped his argument.

No, like Hypatia, it's just his anti-american prejudice and bigotry.

Ever notice how there are never any immigrant caravans risking their lives to escape the USA to go to some socialist country? Or even to New Zealand?

Honestly, given how isolated NZ is, it would be pretty hard for a migrant caravan to go there...

A caravan to New Zealand, huh?

Actually, if I was young and unencumbered, I'd be happy to emigrate to New Zealand.
