  • Hill Say Bill Can Stay With Clinton Foundation

Hillary says that the man she wants to put in charge of the US Economy doesn't have a conflict by staying on with the Clinton Foundation.

Hillary Clinton told ABC News' David Muir today that her husband, former President Bill Clinton, should not have to step down before the election from his position at the Clinton Foundation.

"I don't think there are conflicts of interest," the Democratic presidential nominee said in a joint interview today with running mate Sen. Tim Kaine. "I know that that's what has been alleged and never proven. But nevertheless, I take it seriously."

To watch David Muir's interview with Hillary Clinton and Tim Kaine, watch "Good Morning America" at 7 a.m. Tuesday and "World News Tonight" at 6:30 p.m.

"I'm very proud of the work that the Clinton Foundation has done," Clinton said. "It's a world-renowned charity because of the work that my husband started and many, many people helped him with. ... He started this great work. He has made it his life's work, after the presidency. And he has said, if I am so fortunate enough to be elected, he will not be involved. And I think that is appropriate."

Proof she has no concept of "conflict of interest".
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

Of course it's not a conflict of interest. The Clintons' interest is in gaining power for themselves. This doesn't conflict with that.

            and there's more....

Inside Bill Clinton’s nearly $18 million job as ‘honorary chancellor’ of a for-profit college

            Source: WaPo

The guest list for a private State Department dinner on higher-education policy was taking shape when Secretary of State Hillary Clinton offered a suggestion.

In addition to recommending invitations for leaders from a community college and a church-funded institution, Clinton wanted a representative from a for-profit college company called Laureate International Universities, which, she explained in an email to her chief of staff that was released last year, was “the fastest growing college network in the world.”

There was another reason Clinton favored setting a seat aside for Laureate at the August 2009 event: The company was started by a businessman, Doug Becker, “who Bill likes a lot,” the secretary wrote, referring to her husband, the former president.

Nine months later, Laureate signed Bill Clinton to a lucrative deal as a consultant and “honorary chancellor,” paying him $17.6 million over five years until the contract ended in 2015 as Hillary Clinton launched her campaign for president.

While Clinton served as secretary of state, there was a potential conflict of interest. Now that she is a candidate, it is pretty much the same potential conflict that every cantidate has who raises money from others. Less so insofar as money given to the foundation canot be spent on the campaign.

The problem, of course, is that money is so fungible, and it's incredibly easy for politicians to do lots of quid pro quo while cleverly concealing the pro.

This is a problem with every campaign. Less so with the foundation.
