While there's all this hysteria about how evil Rush was, it's becoming more and more apparent that he gave HUGE sums of money to various charities on the condition it not be revealed.

Now that he's gone, people are beginning to speak up, including one who solicited a small donation for St Jude's Children's Hospital, and was stunned to see a check for $100,000.
The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

His giving to charity may be laudable but his attacks on the powerless, the ill, the coloured were lifelong and consistent with a person to whom others are inconsequential.

His attacks on "the coloured"? Got examples?

But if she died tomorrow and I had a news channel, I would simply report her passing. It is really bad form to attack the recently deceased. In fact, it is barbaric, and I am reminded of Somalians dragging the dead bodies of Americans through their streets.

That is the "Today Show" IMO, dragging Limbaugh's body through the gutter for their political goosebumps. The man has a family in mourning right now.

Here's a bunch with discussions about when he said them and sources. Some of the more prominent ones:

“The NAACP should have riot rehearsal. They should get a liquor store and practice robberies.”
“Take that bone out of your nose and call me back. [to a black caller]"
“Have you ever noticed how all composite pictures of wanted criminals resemble Jesse Jackson?”
“You know who deserves a posthumous Medal of Honor? James Earl Ray [killer of MLK Jr]. We miss you, James. Godspeed."

And here's a discussion on his quotes on the subject of "If any race of people should not have guilt about slavery, it’s Caucasians". If you're baffled as to why the main slave-holding race of the last few hundred years should be the one race in history to not have guilt about the topic of slavery, Rush has an argument for you, and he'll explain why up is down and black is white, and it just so happens to turn out that white people are the best race in history in his view of the history.

What a crock. I'll bet a million dollars he never said that (except maybe to deny saying it). It is lies like this that make me doubt the rest.

The article I linked to says the original source claimed he said that on his radio program on 23 April 1998, which seems oddly specific for a citation if it's false. The linked article however does cast doubt on the subject and seems to have been unable to verify it. Others of those quotes, they were able to verify that he said. Given you're not seriously offering a million dollars, I will go to no further effort to determine if he said this particular statement or not, nor do I have access to archives of his radio shows from 1998.

It's obviously fake and stands out like a sore thumb. People have lost their jobs in the media for saying far, far less, and it doesn't match what little I know about Limbaugh.

"the linked article however does cast doubt....."

I haven't listed to Rush in a long time, but it was not at all unusual for him to say something crass, imitating liberals, then building from there.
The liberals would jump on the part that he said on which he was building a case, and completely leave off "he then continued to....."

Most of this balderdash comes from people who never actually listed to Rush.

Snopes -- definitely not a right-wing source -- has a list of "racist" comments attributed to Maha Rushie. Most, including the James Earl Ray thing, cannot be documented.

The "nose-bone" thing is well known, but is from his short tenure as Pittsburgh DJ Jeff Christie back in the '70s.

The McNabb incident is also well known, and various people, most recently Burgess Owens, said Rusty's analysis was valid, not "racist."

If the Ray thing and most of the others were even close to true, I highly doubt even his house n-words Clarence Thomas (the officiant at one of his weddings), the late, lamented Walter E. Williams (who guest-hosted for him annually), and call-screener James "Bo Snerdley" Golden would not have long since disavowed him.

And he would have lost his job, or his ability to be broadcast. People like Jimmy the Greek and Don Imus (and nearly Howard Cosell and Andy Rooney) were canned for saying far less than applauding a racist murderer.

There hasn't been much tolerance in the media (since the 50s anyway) for flagrant racism against blacks.

One of the things I used to really enjoy about Rush is how he would unabashedly take on the media when they misquoted him, or totally took him out of context.

He made it OK to fight back against the arrogant know-all media types and make fools of them. He seemed to love taking their attacks on him, and showing how dishonest or juvenile they were.

so basically every quote you have above has no evidence according to your own source, or was not meant the way it sounds out of context.
