Irrelevant. Trump believes he lost the election due to fraud. True or false is not the issue.

If someone persists in promulgating and believing an untruth in the face of evidence that it is an untruth [e.g. the person who persistently insists the moon landings were faked] then, yes such a position is peddling a lie and is delusional.
Aside from you appointing yourself the purveyor of "delusion" and "lies" (which is another subject) you have yet to prove Trump lied.

    lie lī

    • n.
A false statement deliberately presented as being true; a falsehood.
    • n.
Something meant to deceive or mistakenly accepted as true.
    • intransitive verb
To present false information with the intention of deceiving.
If Trump believes he lost due to fraud, there is no "lie" involved.

Would you use the same argument for Hitler? "Where did my client issue a written order to exterminate the Jews"?
    No, because they aren't comparable.

My point is that we have to wait and see. I suspect it will be highly unlikely that Trump will gain the Republican nomination for any future presidential election.
    He'd be too old anyway.

FYI - I started this thread because Nancy Pelosi believes that this second impeachment of Trump will assist in unifying the nation.

    The woman is (IMO) insane.

No. The impeachment is being done to show there are consequences for inciting an insurrection against the USA.

No. The impeachment was pushed by Queen Pelosi because her office was soiled by a commoner and she blames Trump for it.

And... she likes to waste tax money on such things.

Trump-inspired right wing insurrectionists broke into and vandalized the Capitol, including Pelosi's office. Her laptop and lectern were stolen along with other items from her desk.

This is criminal behavior and should not be minimized by describing it as her office being "soiled by a commoner".

There is nothing like impeaching the man who got 75 million votes that says unity...

This. Moving on doesn't mean letting people get away with pretending the proven free & fair election was stolen.

                Irrelevant.

Popularity does not mean that you are above the law.
Unity has to be based on acceptance of a common set of rules that apply to everyone.

If popularity should prevent a person from being charged with a crime, Cosby would never have been charged.

You know what helps create unity? Concession speeches. Election losers conceding. 147 of them recently voted to overturn a free and fair election in which their guy lost by 7 million votes.

If you are looking for the source of disunity these Republicans seem to skip right over Trump's failure to concede the election (propped up by Cruz and other slimy senior republicans), to Democrats reacting to an attack on the Legislative branch of government.

Can we stop misusing the term "insurrection"? It makes it impossible to discuss this matter in any reasoned way.

So what do you expect this to accomplish. ANYBODY from either side is gonna sit back and say, "huh, well, look at that, I was wrong all along"?

All it's going to do is drive the wedge even deeper and keep pouring fuel on the fire.

Because it's putting the verdict before the trial.

You think this impeachment is going to prove otherwise? And you think that's what this impeachment is about?

Exactly. She thinks 75 million people are brainwashed and that prosecuting their candidate will somehow deprogram them. Is that nuts or what?

As there is no evidence to suggest he did lose the election due to fraud we must conclude that either he is lying or he is delusional, or he is both.

Lying comes as naturally to Trump as breathing. How many Pinocchio's did the WP award him over the last four years? It runs to tens of thousands. He lied over this election to appeal to his base and its belief that its freedoms and democracy are in danger of being stolen. Lies he and others have been peddling for years.

Why not? Using your example of the question as to whether a client deliberately invoked violence the similarity stands. I do not think you will find anything in Nazi official propaganda or in Hitler's speeches where the precise words "Kill the Jews" are employed. Although I am happy to be proven wrong. It was more subtle, as was Trump.

He would be only a few months older than was Biden when he won the Presidency. However, his age is not the issue.
