Inside every progressive is a totalitarian screaming to get out.

Not sure who first said that, but we are seeing it play out right before our eyes.

(and, yes, I think "every" is a slight exaggeration)

The first to state his case seems right until another comes and cross-examines him.

What I marvel at more is how the social engineers seem to be able to control the population in their favor. In the Bush era, it was the right (for the most part) in support of totalitarian governmental measures to "keep us safe," and the left (for the most part) was in opposition. Now it's completely reversed. Government manages to get more power and control just the same, just using different sides of the party at different times.

IMO, it's the way the Left lean on the federal government for everything. When the feds get involved there is little wiggle room left for anyone. It's the beginning of much of their totalitarianism.

Like Biden says he is going to introduce a $15 national minimum wage. That's laughable for places like San Francisco and New York, but where I live, you can nearly buy a house for that kind of income. A lot of small businesses in my area can't afford to pay that, so they'll crumble and leave WalMart to take over even more - with all of their Chinese merchandise. One size does not fit all, but progressives want everything established at the highest level and apply to everyone under the sun. No surprise they are also the most strident globalists.

You basically just said "and screw the folks that can't earn a living wage." You can't pretend that America can ever be great under those circumstances when cost of living exceeds most salaries.

No, I didn't. I said "one size does not fit all." Leftists want to apply the same standards across the board - even when it does not apply or does more harm than good. Minimum wage should be regionally adjusted.

When I started out in the working world I didn't get "a living wage." That's some new socialist twist that started a couple decades ago. I didn't earn enough to pay rent so I got a roommate.

It is quintessentially American to use your poor wage as an excuse to get a better wage. It is what America was meant to be. That means there will be have nots.

Many come here for that very reason. People need to find it within themselves to fight and do it. It's what the american dream is all about. If someone wants just the american nap, that's all they will get.

Slandering a whole group if people based on their ideology as the topic of a post.

              Wow.
My brethren, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. James 2:1

If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not  bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless James 1:26

This you know, my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger; James 1:19

                LOL, not remotely true.

The neo-liberals are the most strident globalists. They love their international trade agreements, their World Banks and IMF and UN, etc.

Progressives tend to protest international trade agreements. They tend to view international trade as stealing local jobs and undermining union jobs and good working conditions by outsourcing to foreign countries with worse labor protections. Progressives tend to hate the World Bank and the IMF. They tend to be relatively apathetic about the UN - thinking that the idea of international diplomacy is good but being relatively skeptical of the quality of the outcomes in practice.

If you think progressives are globalists, and in fact think they are the biggest globalists, your entire political spectrum needs recalibrating. Bernie Sanders and Trump overlapped a lot on their anti-globalist message, which is a position Bernie has because he's a progressive.

I see zero reason to think that's remotely true.

But it does remind me of an interesting comment I heard from a guy who's views on politics I tend to trust, and who interacts with a lot of libertarians: That people who are libertarian have a tendency to develop into fascists over time or when challenged too hard. I've seen this same idea noted by other sources, e.g. this article talks about a 'libertarian to fascist pipeline'.

I will amend my comments to "leftists" as opposed to "progressives." But the latter is a morphing term so your understanding of 'progressives' is equally ill defined.

So who are these neo-liberals you reference?

Are these the same who whine about America not being liked by the global community, that the US needs to be more like europe?

I fail to see any distinction between progressives and neo-liberals.

Ah, so it IS a personal attack on me.
I didn't want to assume that.

Here's the deal, Jim - when I accused you of hypocrisy, I backed it up with fact.
Recent example was your complaining about name calling, then resorting to name calling yourself.
When I called you on it, rather than admit you were wrong, and apologize, you laughed it off and doubled down on it.

When you implied that I called you evil, I clarified and said I never thought you were evil, but I believed you to be deranged.

So, what do you do? You start a thread pretty much proving my point, Jim.
You are petty and vindictive and and, apparently, a very angry man - just like I've been saying.

Remember when I used the illustration - what do you get when you squeeze a lemon? You get what's inside it.

Well, you were squeezed, and we're seeing what's inside you.

Despots are a Republican invention. Recently in the news is the case of Rick Snyder. Repubs don’t want out, they are out, and being a danger to the Republic on a daily basis.

No patriotic American should ever vote Republican again.
