  • AOC: GOP who dismiss consequences for riots 'opening the door for it to happen again'

Hmm...stated without an ounce of Irony.

    Source: https://www.businessinsider.com/aoc-capitol-building-riots-vulnerability-gop-consequences-trump-removal-2021-1

"Let's be very clear," she wrote. "The officials urging for no serious consequences after Wednesday's attack on our country - including the impeachment, removal, expulsion, and/or indictment of officials who aided, abetted, or incited the attack - are opening the door for it to happen again."

This coming from a woman who spread online ways to hide your identity while "peacefully protesting".

So even AOC recognizes that downplaying, minimizing, excusing, rationalizing, or justifying political violence normalizes it and opens the door to more action.

Too bad she didn't recognize it before doing just that for 4 years.

Though, if she's anything like the rest of the liberals she's cried apples and oranges so she doesn't have to do any sort of introspection about how the climate got so polarized and political violence became so normalized.

Though I think she's basically a college educated nitwit (IOW, she knows how to sprinkle college words in your communication to sound smart, but she's an airhead), I wouldn't be surprised she can read the writing on the wall. Her "opening the door for it to happen again" makes me think she's worried that the radical policies they're about to embark on is not going to be received well by the right, and she's warning about this. Of course, I could just be waaaay overestimating her discernment and intellect here.

Actually, she is not an airhead. In high school she was a semi-finalist in the very prestigious national Intel science competition which requires students to complete a science project and explain and defend their results to a panel of scientists. Not a competition for airheads.

She's stating a truth. I just find it funny that she can't recognize that they already FAILED in that regard about offering serious consequences, through 4 years of violent behavior. Which is why stuff has gotten so out of hand.

It's kind of tedious and redundant to point out their blatant hypocrisy. The examples are endless. I tend to look deeper below the surface.

              Hilarious performative outrage by AOC.

This was her statement days into the George Floyd violence:

“If you are calling for an end to this unrest, and if you are a calling for an end to all of this, but you are not calling for the end of the conditions that created the unrest, you are a hypocrite,” she said in a video on Instagram Saturday morning, posted above. “So if you’re out here calling for the end of unrest, then you better be calling for health care as a human right, you better be calling for accountability in our policing, you better be supporting community review boards, you better be supporting the end of housing discrimination…Because if you don’t call for those things and you’re asking for the end of unrest, all you’re asking for is the continuation of quiet oppression.”

Completing a fancy high school science fair does not make one magically not an airhead. And in my experience, often the most airheaded tended to be the biggest cheaters in such things in order to get top prizes/finalist positions (quite prevalent still today, it seems)

She's a science genius - once she retracted her 12-year apocalypse announcement.

I would suggest, from my reading [and viewing] that she is not alone in that opinion.

A nice observation. It seems she didn't feel like keeping riots from happening again this summer.

As I recall many of those riots were a result of a black man [once again] dying from over zealous police actions. And of course there were plenty of peaceful protests at the time but they did not get the same degree of media attention.

And? That changes nothing about keeping them from happening again.

there have been plenty of peaceful pro Trump protests as well

That comment appears to be suggesting that police violence towards blacks is something outside and beyond human control.

                            Wednesday's incident was somewhat different.

Actually, the comment is that if think we need to crack down hard and fast on a riot or else you encourage it to happen again, then you should have been calling for the same over the summer, instead of perhaps encouraging people to hide their identities at "peaceful protests".

                              Wednesday's incident was somewhat different.
Not really. It was political violence. The same type of political violence you said we needed to simply accept was part of our DNA.
