But, hey, it makes for great sensationalism.

    Here's more balanced statement.

The fatality rate could well rise as some hospitals in some areas gallantly fight to provide adequate care.
Hospitals in some areas are going to have to switch from doing everything they can to save each patient, to trying to save as many patients as they can. This can reasonably be described as "rationing care", and it doesn't imply that it's the hospitals' fault that some of the most seriously ill patients will not receive decent care, since the hospitals don't have unlimited resources.

The death rate could easily double over the next month from its already extremely high rate of over 2500 (average) per day. You can describe this as a "rise" if you like. Perhaps "gentle rise" would make you feel even better.

This assumes that people will be just as adamant about their "right" to travel and gather with family and friends around Christmas as they were around Thanksgiving, but that doesn't really seem like much of a stretch.

Well, that's still a little biased, but not terribly so.

No, that's what one calls it when they want to make it sound dramatic.

Actually, that would be swinging the drama pendulum the other way --- I'm fine with "a rise".

I think you're name "stoic" is a REAL stretch.

I thought it would be good for me to clarify, for any dishonest or ignorant reader who might wish to make an issue of this, that "I'm fine with 'a rise'" means that I'm fine with the terminology referring to a rise in COVID deaths as "a rise".

I am NOT "fine" with the fact that there is ANY rise.

I'm sorry you can't handle numerous sources showing you are wrong all at once. Sounds like a personal problem.
