  • Trump threatens Republicans who acknowledge Biden victory

WaPo did a survey of Republican members of Congress asking them who won the presidential election. The results for Republicans was

    Biden: 25 (House) 2 (Senate)
    Trump: 2
    Decline to answer: 220

Trump is threatening retaliation against Republicans who acknowledge that which is an absolute fact beyond dispute.

    Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump

25, wow! I am surprised there are so many. We have just begun to fight. Please send me a list of the 25 RINOS. I read the Fake News Washington Post as little as possible!

Can we all agree that this is very dangerous behavior?

If your response is going to be "He just wants to know their names so he can try to convince them" please don't bother posting. That's clearly not what he's doing.

The GOP are trying to keep him sweet until the Georgia runoff. But yes, it is dangerous, Trump is doing as much damage to the US government on his way out as possible, and managing to make money at it too.

And showing your enemies how to break the USA, and undermine US democracy.

It looks more ominous than it is. Trump doesn't need people to send him a list over social media, so that means he asked it for show.

More ominous would be if was done lowkey.

My response is "You are a total ass-hat for setting such conditions on responses." Actually you're an ass-hat in general, but that kind of condition-setting is one more example.

How is acknowledging a particular argument and requesting that we not go down that path ridiculous? If that's the only defense on offer then fine, this thread will die a quick death. I want to hear alternative explanations for why this doesn't say to you (speaking generally) what it says to me.

If it's that big of a deal to you then for you in particular I'll waive that condition.

But it's still a threat, right?

BTW, are you familiar with stochastic terrorism? This looks like it could qualify to me. We already know that death threats are being hurled at politicians and even non-politicians in Georgia.

Trump pressured Georgia governor in call to help overturn Biden's win in state

By Kristen Holmes and Veronica Stracqualursi,

(CNN)President Donald Trump on Saturday called Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, pushing him to convince state legislators to overturn President-elect Joe Biden's win in the state, a source familiar with the conversation told CNN.

Trump asked Kemp to call a special session and convince state legislators to select their own electors that would support him, according to the source. He also asked the Republican governor to order an audit of absentee ballot signatures.
Kemp explained that he did not have the authority to order such an audit and denied the request to call a special session, the source said.

Not a physical threat, no. Maybe some weak threat to ruin their careers, perhaps.

I didn't say Trump was directly physically threatening them. I am saying that he's indirectly physically threatening them because he knows his follows will take action.

As I said, an employee at Dominion has received death threats already. Someone who is totally unconnected to any conspiracy to steal an election. Surely people who dare to say Trump lost will face an even harsher response.

If anything, I still think it would be about their careers. Trump likes to fire people and take revenge on them through their jobs.

I seriously doubt he is the least bit interested in causing anyone to be physically hurt. The doxing thing, threats and violence seems to be more connected with Leftists.

Right, so Trump is threatening Republicans for merely saying out loud what is clearly true.

None of the Trump fans here have ever admitted Trump counts on his fans to do his dirty work. Most of them try to feign Trump is innocent and can't be expected to be able to control his fans or anticipate what they might do.

Correct. Part of being humans imbued with free will is that we are responsible for our own actions.

Indeed. So if you know there are people who follow you that will act irrationally and hatefully, even violently against someone if you direct a negative comment at them, then you have a responsibility NOT to accept or especially not to use that behavior. Further, you have a responsibility to those your followers might target to do what you can to teach your followers better,, to rebuke them if they do act out against others. Even more to the point, you have a responsibility NOT to consciously attack others in ways you know can and will invoke your follower's hostile response.

What did Jesus say about teachers? That it would be better if they hung a millstone around their neck and cast themselves into the sea than if they lead an innocent astray? Talk about being responsible for your actions!
