Now watch as the Democrats once again circle the wagons around her and brook no criticism as Pelosi once again proclaims there is "no taint" of anti-Semitism within the Democrat Party like she did after another member of the notorious "squad," Ilhan Omar (D-MN), made one of her typical remarks.

One of the very few pieces to mention it focused on the defense of her comments by A CNN contributor in some tweets.
Claiming that "From the river to the Sea, Palestine will be free" simply means that Jews and Palestinians should be equal is like a couple of racists offering to take a black person to a "necktie party" is nothing more than an invitation to a formal affair rather than a reference to a lynching. Her history belies any other intent to the meaning. And inviting her to a panel discussion on anti-Semitism is no different than asking David Duke to speak at a conference on improving race relations.
But, as expected the wagons have again started to circle.

She should have known that the message carried that implication.

Wow you guys are desperate and sad.
She retweeted a nice sounding rhyming line about freedom. Then when she learned it had some other meanings to some people, she deleted it because she hadn't meant it that way. Big whoop.
As someone who is partly of Jewish decent myself, I 100% agree with her sentiment in wanting Israel to be free, for all peoples. The ongoing oppression of Arabs in the region by the government of Israel is a matter of shame for Jews around the world.
CD got the word Semitic wrong in the thread title. Clearly he's so concerned about the Semites and this issue is so important to him... that he didn't even bother to learn how to spell their name.
Rogue falsely pretended that retweeting a nice rhyme about freedom was basically identical to openly calling for genocide. Maybe turn down the crazy knob just a little?
Gondwanaland expressed the usual absurdly over the top right-wing propagandized hatred of The Squad. The squad are what people in my country would call normal people, unlike the rest of the corrupt shills in US politics, they are actually just normal people with policies representative of the thoughts of normal people rather than being paid representatives of the elite and giant companies. If you put them in our parliament, no one would notice them, as they would fit right in. But in the US parliament, they stand out like a sore thumb for their principles and lack of corruption and for pushing of policies that would help the people rather than the elite billionaires and multinationals. And the result is that the corrupt billionaires loathe them with a passion and so the right wing propaganda media that they fund goes after them absurdly much. AOC complains about how often her day starts with a briefing from the FBI about who the latest people are investigating for threatening to kill her are.
It's also particularly hilarious when the right-wing who literally sides with openly anti Semitic neo-Nazis, accuses left-wingers of being the anti Semitic ones. There's a reason why the vast majority of Jews in the US vote Democratic not Republican."I hate him passionately", he's "a demonic force" - Tucker Carlson, in private, on Donald Trump
"Every line of serious work that I have written since 1936 has been written, directly or indirectly, against totalitarianism and for democratic socialism" - George Orwell

She should have known better. She should have been aware that the phrase had the meaning it did. But, it's another in a long line of "faux pas" that in isolation are potentially innocent, but when taken as a pattern show a disturbing trend.
But I notice how quickly you pivoted to "whataboutism."
BTW. She WAS aware. When Marc Lamont was fired for using THIS EXACT PHRASE from cnn. Who tweeted out support for him? That's right....Tlaib, the person you said just "found out" about the meaning to "some people".
(Also, I must have struck a nerve since you went to "hahaha, op can't spell" as an attack.Last edited by CivilDiscourse; 12-03-2020, 03:31 PM.

Do you even believe what you said? Are you really that stupid?
Hamas and others[1] have been using that as a rallying cry for wiping Israel from the map and driving the Jews into the sea for several decades and for anyone to feign ignorance wouldn't pass a smell test given from a mile away. Especially Tlaib, who has a history of giving her full-throated support to anti-Semitism. Her use of that wasn't out of ignorance any more than if a hooded member of the KKK were to say we need to "turn back the clock." While that phrase actually does mean different things to different people, everyone sure as shooting knows exactly what he meant when he said it.
1. It was the PLO, back in 1964, that first used the term and made it clear it meant to drive the Jews into the sea. A slight variation of it was the line used by the founder of the Black September terrorist group, responsible for the Munich Massacre, where eleven Israeli Olympic athletes who they castrated and then murdered.Last edited by rogue06; 12-03-2020, 06:16 PM.
