By contrast, a count of indicted officials is just a count. We know a lot of Trump's people are in prison or currently facing charges - his personal lawyer, his senior political advisor, his campaign chief etc. We know Nixon did bad things in Watergate and a whole lot of his people went to prison as a result. We know Reagan did bad things in Iran-Contra, and people were found guilty as a result. Simply counting up the total number of prosecutions, convictions and prison sentences is tedious but not controversial. It's reporting on known information, as opposed to trying to create new information (e.g. like trying to determine who was and wasn't an adulterer), so its simpler and less error prone.
And, to be frank about it, since you're pushing the subject: The right-wing in the US are a bunch of absolutely pathological liars, who have an IQ slightly lower than a pile of rocks. Experience tells me they are not psychologically capable of reporting any form of accurate data. They lie. They get things wrong. All the time. Almost everything Breitbart ever published is false and most of them seem to be deliberate lies. Every second thing Fox News says is false. The right wing's relationship with truth is more distant than my relationship with the planet mars.
By contrast, on average the left wing is truthful and intelligent. That's not to say there's not exceptions. But on the whole, left wing people and sources care about truth and focus on reporting it accurately. There's a big difference between the two sides in the US. The left is truth focused and the right-wing are a bunch of moronic liars (and criminals, as per the earlier point).
