That's a legit use of that acronym. It is just more commonly be right back.

Take it somewhere else. I am getting sick and tired of your constant trolling and snide comments. they at least used to have a humorous bent to them, now they are just mean spirited.

I can't remember now, but there was an acronym about a year ago that I was lost on and couldn't find it Googling. I simply had to interrupt the conversation and ask.
Not really related to the TLA issue, but I strongly recommend DuckDuckGo for anybody rather than Google.

Folks, don't let us turn this thread into another nasty political one.

Esther has expressed her appreciation of many of us, including the ones she may not agree with. I am asking that if you have something rude or mean to say.......don't do it.

There are dozens of other threads to express your disdain for those who disagree with you. Go there and keep it out of this thread.

At the beginning of the pandemic when we in SA entered into a 6 week long hard lockdown, I thought that we were all basically going to suffer and die and make the 55 million odd fatalities of the Spanish Flu look like a side show. I prepared to meet my Maker and to be the most courageous I could be in the interim.

My terror lasted about a month before I began being exposed to other and better information and not just the mainstream media visuals of over-crowded hospitals with naked people lying on their stomachs attached to ventilators and bodies piling up all over the place, eek!

I read Mikewhitney's thread, "The numbers don't add up" and for the first time was able to find a good amount of relief from the terror which gripped me during the night where I couldn't sleep for worrying about my loved ones and wondering who would look after my cat should I become incapacitated!

So Thank you Theologyweb, Mikewhitney, Mountainman, Sparko, CowPoke, SeanD, Ronson, Norrinrad, Maranatha and all the contributors to the civics topic. Both good and bad, ha ha you know who you are!

I have learnt so much! I didn't even know what "MSM" stood for or what it was before coming here. Must say that I independently found CNN and their smug outraged virtue signalling anti-Trump anchors and reporters unbearable in the extreme. Ghastly creatures all.
This is about me, isn't it?

I think there's one called "All the Web," or something like that. An ad for it came up in my Facebook Newsfeed. Seems to be making claims similar to DDG's. Anyone know anything about it?

I'd never heard of it, so I looked it up...according to Wikipedia, it "was an Internet search engine that made its debut in mid-1999 and was closed in 2011". If you're seeing adds on Facebook, perhaps there's a new iteration?

There are a few other secure browsers out there that promise not to mine your data. Just do a search (I almost typed "just google...") for "secure web browser". DuckDuckGo will be in there, but so will a couple of others, if DDG isn't to your taste.

The URL "alltheweb.com" redirects to Yahoo.

I believe the one whose ad came up on Facebook is "All the Internet," alltheinternet.com. It appears to be a meta-search site, maybe sort of like Dogpile.

                              Oh, I loathe those :(

But I knew there was another one I'd heard good things about, so I had a look around...it's Startpage. I can't speak to how good it is, not having used it, but I've heard it well spoken of.

As for me, I use DuckDuckGo and I can speak to how good that is - I use it all the time and find it great.

I've been using it more and more often, especially for anything relating to politics. It's just that using Google Chrome makes using Google too easy
