Yes credit where credit is due to the scientific and medical community on the front lines when Trump denied the pandemic and has ridiculed the measures to reduce the case and fatality rate until vaccines can be developed. Boy! Was he ever disappointed when the vaccine was not available before Nov. 3.

No bravo or one hand clap from me. He never effectively dealt with the pandemic.
Shuny, this is part of the problem we face going forward. It is absolutely true that the Trump admin response to covid in general has been abysmal. Too many have died, too many have been sick. But warp speed is something they did right, and we will benefit from it greatly (though they are sabotaging even that with how they are turning the transition into a revenge fest). We can recognize that without condoning the other. And there is no reason they could not have done both: dealt with the pandemic past and present and break records dealing with covid future.

None of that need be lost by recognizing warp speed has been a success and it will help us all and that is something the Trump Admin did.

I'll be the proverbial turd in the punch bowl:

-- I'm concerned that the haste might leave harmful side-effects undiscovered until too late.

-- We have no idea about the long-term effectiveness of either vax.

-- Alex Berenson pointed out that the stellar 95% numbers were *relative* measures. Dr. Gilbert Welch has a nice little six-minute tutorial on YouTube explaining relative vs. absolute measurements, and how they are often used to overstate benefits and understate risks.

'If it pans out' is how I've captured this caveat in my statements thus far about operation warp speed. We have company sponsored press releases. Other scientists need to look at the data. And once the vaccine is being distributed to millions, we may find there are some rare responses not seen in the trials.

The political phrase 'warp speed' was very late as far as the reality of the efforts of the Trump administration concerning the drive to develop the vaccines.

Launched in May, Operation Warp Speed (OWS) is a government initiated private/public $10 billion US program to help provide support to companies in the development, manufacturing and distribution of 300 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine, with initial doses ready by January 2021.

Yes the government program helped with funding, but unfortunately the whole Trump administration efforts were a disaster.
