Try to keep it civil though. The rules still apply here.

I think it won't make a difference to how the situation changes. We give too much omnipotence to the office of president. On social issues like this, the president tends to be behind the change curve instead of leading it.

True, and the "change curve" was dramatically moving left even before Trump. It had been moving left for years, decades even, but for some reason accelerated under Trump. If it got this crazy with Trump serving as at least some sort of political opposition to it, imagine what it be like now. No brakes whatsoever."For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings." Hosea 6:6

I doubt there will be any impact. Democrats will consider winning the Presidency to be a political mandate for their ill-considered policies, even though the election was more of a referendum on Trump himself than the liberal versus conservative divide. The GOP is going to be sorting out some identity issues between the Never Trumpers and the ones who've spent four years licking Trump's boots while he urinated on half of the principles our country used to collectively hold dear. The hardcore Trump supporters should take this referendum for what it is -- a rejection of Trump's style and substance. Those who personally loved his style and substance are on notice that the the country dislikes it enough to unseat an incumbent president -- a pretty rare occurrence.

Another very scary sentiment:
Glendower: I can call spirits from the vasty deep.
Hotspur: Why, so can I, or so can any man;
But will they come when you do call for them? Shakespeare’s Henry IV, Part 1, Act III:
go with the flow the river knows . . .
Frank
I do not know, therefore everything is in pencil.

You forget there's still a pandemic. You don't mention that anywhere in your post. Everyone in this thread seems to forget that. Do you think Biden won't initiate policy based on that? Do you think the Dem governors and mayors will stop sending police to arrest folks that don't comply with their shutdown mandates because Biden's now in office? Do you think BLM will stop demonstrating and rioting every time a black person is killed and stop making demands for their leftist polices? Do you think Biden will ignore BLM and their demands like Trump did? You don't mention any of those topics currently happening in the context of "I doubt there will be any impact."
I don't think the BLM protests will be resolved any time soon. That crowd is intent on seeing problem that either doesn't exist, or grossly exaggerating the problem for their own ends. Their beliefs on this matter are so deep-seated and sacrosanct at this point, I have no idea how to convince them otherwise. My only guess is that logic and reason will be place less of a role than trying to somehow build a sense of trust and respect before trying to find a path forward.
My main hope is that the GOP retains control in the senate, allowing them to blunt the crazy stuff the left will be trying to do."If you believe, take the first step, it leads to Jesus Christ. If you don't believe, take the first step all the same, for you are bidden to take it. No one wants to know about your faith or unbelief, your orders are to perform the act of obedience on the spot.
