When you've royally screwed up testing, so that you have no idea where the virus is, or how fast it's spreading (aka "flying blind"), and you've got information from China and Italy that indicate that it can spread very rapidly and kill a significant percentage of the infected, then locking down everywhere starts to look like a pretty good idea.

Of course, the idea of locking down everywhere is that gives you time to start a massive program to produce test capability and PPE, so that when you come out of lockdown, you can respond effectively in areas that have the most infections, and prevent the virus from spreading to other areas.

Problem is, when the blue states are the ones hit hardest, and you've got a red state president, the time you bought with the lockdown is effectively wasted.

You keep showing that you don't know what 'communist' means. Here's a hint: it is not a governmental system.
America - too good to let the conservatives drag it back to 1950.

Can't know where in the store she got it, but we know that was the only outing she had made in a period of 3 weeks, the only contact with others that could have infected her.

No contact with anyone else? Not her son/daughter? Not her mail? Not her neighbors passing on the street? Not from touching something she bought from the store that had the virus residing on it? I highly doubt all those things were eliminated to make that claim.

You also forget that AIDS was for quite some time nearly universally fatal. So prosecuting one for knowingly transmitting could in fact havr been a murder charge.

And, in fact, the reality is that if we're consistent wrt prosecuting those that knowingly spread aids, we should prosecute Rand Paul for reckless endangerment over his workout in the gym after his positive covid result.

If that is the way you want to write your law, go for it.

I already know liberals want draconian laws regarding the China virus because they think it is politically expedient. It's a losing strategy I think.
We could have forced interment like New Zealand with Joe's H1N1, except it wasn't that deadly, and sixty million got it. But just like the China virus is not that deadly we don't even consider it. Oh, and by the way, Joe's response was horrible, it was spreading like wildfire while Joe secured his money for himself through his son, and took naps.

Joey and the Democrats have already proven worthless at handling pandemics.

Aids is still deadly to anyone who gets it, even nursing home patients.

No, people rarely die of AIDS in developed countries now, HIV is pretty much fully controllable with drugs. See this article for an explainer of the current standards for treatment: As a doctor, I’d rather have HIV than diabetes.

                The liberals value life.

                The conservatives value money.

So the liberals would rather save people, and the conservatives would rather save the economy.

In this particular instance it seems like he went to the gym between taking the test and finding out the result.

The issue of what people should/shouldn't do between taking the test and finding out the result, is a lot more murky than if they know they are positive. If someone knows they are positive it absolutely becomes reckless endangerment of the lives of others to expose others to themselves. Morally it's stochastic murder. It should probably carry legal penalties.

I don't understand what you mean.

Around the Western world, liberal parties have been keen to do lockdowns because they value the lives of citizens more than keeping the economy going, and conservative parties have been keen not to lockdown or to lockdown less tightly because they value keeping the economy going more than the lives of their citizens. That's been true in the US, in the UK and in NZ.

You can doubt what you want. The only outing she made, the only contact with others she had during that period was her trip to the store.

The problem here is that reality doesn't fit your Trump driven fantasy. But you know what? Reality doesn't give one flying flip what you want to believe. Don't believe me? Go start believing you can fly and jump off a cliff. Guess what, reality wins every time.

You are correct. If he had not received the results and had no significant symptoms, it's not a clear-cut case of recklessness.

Your trump fantasy land ignorance i simply will not ignore. Covid 19 is substantially more deadly and more severe than H1N1. The mortality is much higher, and the range of long term impacts and after effects is much broader. You may not die. But you may face permanent lung damage, blood and neurological damage, damage to other organs, higher risk of stroke or heart attack, or months of sickness, brain fog, or other debilitating and lingering effects.

Doctors and nurses and medical experts keep trying to get this information out. But the the Trumpians have been trained to listen only to their master, and he keeps feeding them kodswallop.

I saw a comment today that drove this home:

In the next 3 days there will be more Covid deaths in the US, than the death toll from the 9/11 attacks.

The US, today, has the highest count of Covid deaths per day reported by any country at any point in this entire pandemic.
