The thing that really made me laugh was Borat/Baron Cohen's line about her age!

Btw, why is this even in civics? It's obviously a BS story about a guy that isn't even currently in politics.

It seems that one of his dupes for this film is Rudy Guliani who is now facing questions over what is considered a compromising scene.

          https://www.theguardian.com/film/202...new-borat-film

In the film, released on Friday, the former New York mayor and current personal attorney to Donald Trump is seen reaching into his trousers and apparently touching his genitals while reclining on a bed in the presence of the actor playing Borat’s daughter, who is posing as a TV journalist [...] Following an obsequious interview for a fake conservative news programme, the pair retreat at her suggestion for a drink to the bedroom of a hotel suite, which is rigged with concealed cameras.

After she removes his microphone, Giuliani, 76, can be seen lying back on the bed, fiddling with his untucked shirt and reaching into his trousers. They are then interrupted by Borat who runs in and says: “She’s 15. She’s too old for you.”

Representatives for Giuliani have not replied to the Guardian’s requests for comment.

Word of the incident first emerged on 7 July, when Giuliani called New York police to report the intrusion of an unusually-dressed man.

“This guy comes running in, wearing a crazy, what I would say was a pink transgender outfit,” Giuliani told the New York Post. “It was a pink bikini, with lace, underneath a translucent mesh top, it looked absurd. He had the beard, bare legs, and wasn’t what I would call distractingly attractive.

“This person comes in yelling and screaming, and I thought this must be a scam or a shakedown, so I reported it to the police. He then ran away,” Giuliani said. The police found no crime had been committed.

Giuliani continued: “I only later realised it must have been Sacha Baron Cohen . I thought about all the people he previously fooled and I felt good about myself because he didn’t get me.”

Viewers may be less convinced that Baron Cohen, reprising his role as the bumbling reporter Borat Sagdiyev, and Maria Bakalova, who plays his daughter, Tutar, had no success.

In the film Borat is dispatched by the Kazakh government back to the US to present a bribe to an ally of Donald Trump in order to ingratiate his country with the administration. After the monkey earmarked for the gift is indisposed, Borat’s supposedly underage offspring becomes the replacement present.

Even before he reaches into his trousers, Giuliani does not appear to acquit himself especially impressively during the encounter. Flattered and flirtatious, he drinks scotch, coughs, fails to socially distance and claims Trump’s speedy actions in the spring saved a million Americans from dying of Covid. He also agrees – in theory at least – to eat a bat with his interviewer. [...]

Although unfortunate, the circumstances of the setup appear consensual, with Giuliani led to believe he was being courted. Bakalova, 24, is highly plausible in the sting, despite also having to pretend, for the benefit of viewers, to be a feral child posing as a far-right journalist.
Can't remember his name, he was a moderately successful comedian a few years back and is now an occasional panelist on cable news, but he said that Giuliani was trying to adjust a wire going to his mic. Not sure what the source of his info is though.

In any case, what is this fetish of your about people touching themselves? You sure do seem to bring it up in more than one thread.

Ah the usual childish remarks. How predictable.

According to Guiliani "I leaned back, and I tucked my shirt in, and at that point, they have this picture they take, which looks doctored, but in any event, I’m tucking my shirt in. I assure you that’s all I was doing.”.

However, to quote a well known line on Guiliani's defence of his innocence, "Well he would, wouldn't he?" That line has often been incorrectly quoted as "Well he would say that, wouldn't he?"

Irrespective of what the man was doing. He got owned. And that is funny. What is even funnier is Baron Cohen's remark as he rushes into the room.

However, Juvenal has a made a serious point about all this, particularly in light of this from my news feed this morning

            https://www.nytimes.com/2020/10/22/u...05422082f44bc1

That should be of far more concern to Americans who value liberty and freedom [Oh and of course any semblance of democracy]

Perhaps Guiliani is living proof of Lincoln's observation that you can fool some of the people all the time [especially if they have a vested interest].

From what I've read, Giuliani was innocently tucking his shirt back in after the hot, flirtatious 24-year old took it on herself to pull his shirt out as she was removing the wireless microphone pack.

I guess the footage will be released eventually and then we will all be able to evaluate it for ourselves.

Again, I'll point out the difference in how the left reacts when exactly the same sort of tactics are employed against them. They file criminal charges of fraud for claiming to be a reporter. Just ask James O'Keefe.

IOW, they think it's hilarious right up to the point they are the targets then they show their true nature as they grimly use the full force of the law to go after the person.

If you are referring to my comments concerning those who idolise Ms Coney Barrett as a a being of super intelligence and a champion of good Christian decent family values as I recall my comments were quite innocent.

Mr Giuliani was invited to a hotel in Manhattan in July by a member of comedian and director Sacha Baron Cohen’s team posing as a Russian reporter who said she wanted to talk about the president’s coronavirus handling.

The journalist, played by Bulgarian actress Maria Bakalova, 24, starts off by discussing the virus and where it might have started with Mr Giuliani, 76.

                        ...

After they stop filming, she then invites the two-term mayor into the bedroom next door for a drink.

The actress then sits him on the bed and unbuckles his trousers in order to remove his microphone. Mr Giuliani then reaches his hands down his pants to tuck in his shirt.

At which point, Mr Cohen, dressed improbably in a wig and women’s underwear, bursts into the room and tells Mr Giuliani “she’s too old for you, she’s 15!” In other parts of the film, Ms Bakalova plays Borat's 15-year-old daughter Tutar, though there is no suggestion Mr Giuliani thinks she is underage.

Oooh do I detect a hint of salaciousness there CD?

According to you Guiliani was not not doing anything in the bedroom....

Call me old-fashioned but I would consider a woman over a decade older than me trying it on with a woman in her early twenties or late teens equally distasteful.

However, I keep forgetting that the USA has odd views on age differences in relationships. Hence the laws that permit twelve year olds to be married and the instance of a fourteen year bride being married off to a seventy four year old man.

Based on that example even if the actress was only fifteen, Rudy, at seventy-six, would have been within the right age bracket

And honestly, I'm still not sure what is distasteful about an older man being attracted to a younger woman who is a consenting adult. It's generally frowned upon by society, but why? There's nothing illegal, immoral, or unethical about it. René Angélil and singerr Celine Dion had a storybook marriage despite the fact that he was over twice her age.
