  • Final Comment Until Election

I don't see the purpose in rehashing the same arguments back and forth here, other than for exercise. So I thought I would just make a statement and then take a break until election day.

If Biden wins this election (and it appears he will) then this will be a victory of the biased news media and big tech companies that filter news to the voters. They have successfully filtered out anything negative about their candidate, and have said "orange man bad" over and over and over and we now have a brainwashed electorate. Biden votes are based on media filtering. Oh sure, there are some people (like on here) who do see the negative Biden information but the "orange man bad" mantra is too powerful.

But if/when Biden wins, he will be ineffective because most or all of his big government socialist programs will stall in Congress. And if/when Harris takes over the same will apply to her. I just hope Biden/Harris won't start any new wars or start throwing US tax dollars all over the world like their Leftist predecessors.

You might as well have almost perfectly defined right-wing media.

I actually don't think Trump will win - the age old ups and downs of politics. I just hope we hold the Senate. And let's be honest Ronson, Trump has often been his own worse enemy.

There is enough blame for both sides wrt the cable news shows (e.g. tucker carlson/rachael maddow etc). They are very polarizing by their nature, and I can't help but notice exaggerations on both sides. ( a bone for the trumpers - I think the idea pushed recently on CNN that Trump's rally comments imply he is actually looking to leave the country if he loses are absurd - that was entertainment on his part - a joke)

What is NOT true is that the basic main stream news organizations themselves are operating on the same level of overt bias as the news shows, and that as a result the facts they report can be summarily dismissed. That is Trumps 'Fake news' Brainwashing of his cult to keep them from understanding who and what he really is, and what he is really doing. These are professional journalistic organizations doing what journalists are supposed to do, and we are fools not the heed what their reporting implies.

I think that the damage Trump has done to the GOP will take more than a decade to repair. And if the Democrats take both houses and the presidency, It will be no less than their own fault for not pushing back against Trump's excess, for assuming the role of his minions in the most hypocritical means possible.

Biden is not as far ahead as we've been told. Even his campaign recently rang the warning bell and told their supporters that the race was a lot closer than most people realized, and that Biden was far from being guaranteed a win. There are also a number of other indicators that we could be looking at a repeat of 2016, like Trump having a significant advantage in voter enthusiasm, and new voter registration among Republicans significantly outpacing the Democrats in key states. Also, the most accurate polls that predicted a Trump win in 2016 are predicting he'll win again 2020.

The wildcard this election will be the mail-in voting which is shaping up to be a recipe for utter chaos and fraud.

I've also been following the trends. I expect a Biden win. Honestly, a landslide.

The media bias has been going full-blast for a while, overt, and subtle.

I'm most concerned about the authoritarian bent that many on the left have gone towards, and how authoritarian they might go in "correcting" for the trump presidency. We have open support for court packing, err "balancing". When I look at the reactionary boycotts to businesses that step out of line, I'm worried what will happen when the dems are in power and businesses don't agree with their policies, with the base-line mob playing the role of unofficial enforcers of policy.

Oh, I don't know. I think Trump has changed the GOP for the better going forward. He has fought for policies I agree with, and has done more to change the courts than any other Republican president before him. And he does not back down to the press, which will give future Republicans some back bone.

If Biden wins, expect the stock market to plummet as everyone moves their money out of stocks and into something safer like bonds.

I'm engaged in an internal debate about this.

On the one hand, I know what you mean and mostly agree.

On the other, I see the evolution of political parties as reflecting exactly what their members want. If the GOP threw away most of its values in favor of a Trumpian populism, it happened because people who call themselves Republicans wanted it to happen.

I'm not sure there's anything to repair; the GOP is exactly what it wanted to be. The question left in my mind is whether the party will split...

I would expect more wars, a rapid deceleration of oil and gas production, an acceleration of just declaring the US will only sell electric vehicles by 2030, once again becoming slaves to Saud oil, regulations added at a fast clip, and ginormous tax increases. As a start. I need to join a victim class.

That is an interesting point. I wonder if Trump would consider starting his own far rightwing party, if he fails to win a second term. Splitting the right would pretty well guarantee Democrat governments for who knows how long (we went through a similar period in Canada from 1993 to 2006; when the Conservatives split into two parties; the Canadian Liberals won four consecutive elections, until the parties on the right got their act together and merged).

If we keep the senate we can stop a lot of it, and we have a good portion of the courts and can stop many executive orders. Like the courts did with Obama.
