Former White House chief of staff tells friends that Trump 'is the most flawed person' he's ever met

Former White House chief of staff, retired Marine Gen. John Kelly, has told friends that President Donald Trump "is the most flawed person" he's ever known.

"The depths of his dishonesty is just astounding to me. The dishonesty, the transactional nature of every relationship, though it's more pathetic than anything else. He is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life," the retired Marine general has told friends, CNN has learned.

This isn't just a random who's worked with Trump, this is his Chief of Staff, and a military general. And he's not just saying Trump's not perfect, he's saying that Trump is the worst, literally that he's never ever met somebody as bad as the guy that's running the country.

This isn't normal 'sour grapes'. I've noticed Trump supporters dismissing the things said by all the ex Trump staff with a wave of the hand and a claim that they dislike Trump because he fired them. But people have left Presidential administrations before, people have been fired before, and they didn't say these sorts of things.

Under Obama, the scandal was when Secretary of Labor Robert Reich left the administration and wrote a book expressing mild annoyance that Obama's policies weren't as progressive as Reich would have liked them to have been. He didn't say Obama was a terrible person, just that Reich and Obama didn't agree on all their political policies. Whereas the ex Trump people consistently tell us that Trump is a terrible guy.

Kelly's statement that Trump "is the most flawed person I have ever met in my life" is unpresidented. And from a Chief of Staff and military general no less.

Yeah, those quotes made me angry.

Angry in the sense that while Kelley has been critical of the so-called president, he's reserved his true feelings until a few weeks before his former boss is likely to lose his job. I sympathize a bit with military personnel at this time, as they've had to struggle to find some middle ground between doing their duty and serving their country.

Nonetheless, Drumpf has presented them with a dilemma, in that he made it impossible for them to do both simultaneously. it was obvious that he was unfit for the position before he was elected, yet the military also has a duty to carry out his commands to the best of their ability.

And that's why Kelley's statement today angers me. One man was able to prevent a million volunteers from doing their duty to their country; this criticism is so late it's obscene.

I can only hope that this period of American history is going to inspire Congress to amend the constitution some time during this next century. The holes in this democracy have never been more apparent than they are today.

          A) It's CNN.
          B) The quote comes from the familiar no-name sources..."has told friends"... not the actual person himself.
          C) These are the type of folks CNN relies on: "Elizabeth Neumann, another former DHS official, had criticized Trump for not condemning White supremacy after the first presidential debate in September. The fact that he continues to not be able to just point-blank say, 'I condemn White supremacy.' It boggles the mind," she told CNN at the time." Yet we've all heard him condemn it so this is just an outright lie.
          D) That Trump is flawed is nothing new to any of us.

Yes, that means they will have confirmed it with multiple sources.

The person himself is welcome to speak out publicly and deny he ever said it, if he thinks his friends are mistaken about what he said to them.

There's a difference between being human and thus not perfect, and being the most flawed person someone's ever met in their lives. Supporting and/or voting for someone who's human and has minor flaws is fine, but if they're literally the worst person? Trump supporters don't appear to be able to distinguish between 'not perfect' and 'awful'.

Sorry I don't buy your conspiracy theorism. Can you point me to what you consider to be the single worst example of a CNN top story actually being totally wrong and false due to them totally failing to sufficiently source a story?

The amusing thing is that people like you tend to dismiss the MSM on the alleged grounds that they don't always sufficiently source their stories to meet your allegedly high standards, only to then turn around and naively believe wholesale some tiny news outlet that straight-out makes up fictional stories.

Covington Catholic High School story. The fact you have to even ask such a dumb question is strike two against your credibility. And a nut who thought Trump, his wife, and Hope were plotting a fake sickness as an election strategy calling me a conspiracy theorist is absolute hilarity.

Not sure if this really counts as an example. There was a video released, then opinion pundits in the media gave commentary about what appeared to be happening in the video. Then further videos came out showing that the situation was more complicated, and that many of the pundit's assumptions about what was occurring in the first video were wrong. Not really an example of the news media, as opposed to opinion pundits, being factually false in their reporting of a story. The video itself was accurate, and wasn't doctored. (Unlike the Project Veritas videos you guys always gullibly fall for despite Project Veritas' record of always doctoring their videos.)

Am I supposed to telepathically know what you consider to the be worst mistake by the media without asking you?

Stop being irrational. Due consideration of the possibility that a habitual liar might be lying is rational thought, not conspiracy theorism.

Oh my goodness. I've met some very flawed people. These men like Biden and Trump don't even make the list. Hunter Biden may be a little higher on the list. He is a flawed man.

Personality wise Trump is indeed a mess. But I'm more concerned about policy and ability to implement it.

I'm always still in trouble again

The alleged Kelly quote came from multiple (unnamed) sources? Were they all recording Kelly at the same time to put Kelly's comments in quotation marks? This is pretty weak stuff.

I have no doubt that Kelly had harsh words about Trump. But an exact quote from multiple unnamed sources is a joke.

If they're misremembering the quote by a couple of words it's not going to make a difference. It's a lengthy quote with a very clear meaning and it's meaning isn't going to be changed by them slightly misremembering or not totally agreeing on every single word said.

If you can cope with Jesus's words in the bible being put in quotation marks despite the possibility that the writers of the gospels are misremembering them / using unreliable multiple unnamed sources, you should cope fine with CNN doing it for Kelly's words.

Okay then. That's the point of this thread. John Kelly, an experienced military general, who has worked closely with Trump as his Chief of Staff, thinks Trump is an awful human being. And this is far from the first time people who have left the administration have said this sort of thing about Trump. Pretty much everyone who's worked with Trump says he's terrible. Not simply average, or even averagely bad, but utterly terrible.

CNN just tossed in some quotation marks and it doesn't make any difference if it's not accurate? That about sums it up for CNN.

John Kelly probably wants to fight in Afghanistan for another 100 years too.

Listen, Kelly has been interviewed - directly - several times over the past couple of years. He's not a big fan of Trump and said he's very unorthodox, and Kelly goes by the book. Those interviews mean more than hearsay from CNN (which is more about countering all the negative stuff coming out about Biden and Scully).

OK. We already know he's not popular with people who work under him - or are fired by him. The main point I see is that Trump claims to hire only "the best" people, yet few seem to work out.
