  • Pelosi: The 25th Amendment Card...

They really are shameless... Or their internal polls don't look so good?

Pelosi questions Trump's health, says ‘we’re going to be talking about the 25th Amendment’

Pelosi questioned how long President Trump has had coronavirus

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi made a dramatic announcement during her weekly press conference Thursday by telling reporters that she intends to discuss a constitutional measure to remove President Trump from office, following questions regarding Trump's health as he recovers from coronavirus.

The 25th Amendment allows for the vice president to become acting president if is determined that the president "is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office."

The 25 Amendment has always been DOA for Trump because it requires at least the Vice President signing off on it, and Pence will never do it unless Trump is actually incapacitated and unable to discharge his duties.

Now Kamala Harris, on the other hand, should Joe Biden win, already has the knife poised behind his back and will stick it in at the first opportunity.

The fact they would even bring it up publicly, without realizing how bad it makes them look to voters, is disconcerting. It lends credence to the idea they'll do ANYTHING to remove him no matter the cost.

LOL. The Dems would hate Pence as POTUS even more than they do Trump, being all religious. Do they have a plan to infect him with COVID too so Nancy can take over?

I wouldn't put it past them to weaponize the virus to do it.

That's what Nancy wants to change. Currently the 25th says:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

            note the underlined part.

I think that is what Nancy wants to change. She wants to put congress in charge of determining if a president is competent or not. That would cut out Pence and the cabinet.

This is just another way to try to steal the presidency. If Trump wins the election, they will set up a democrat run committee to declare Trump not competent, then find a way to get rid of Pence and install Nancy as President. Or maybe they will just try to disqualify Trump from even running in the election by declaring him not competent now.

This is just another blatant power grab.

              Here's the actual wording:

Whenever the Vice President and a majority of either the principal officers of the executive departments or of such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives their written declaration that the President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers and duties of the office as Acting President.

As I read it, it's either the Vice President and a majority of principle officers or the Vice President and another body appointed by Congress. There doesn't appear to be any option for cutting the VP out of the loop, which makes sense because he's the president's right hand man and the one who would assume the duties of president in that scenario.

That just means they have to take out Pence too.

Unless the Democrats win a veto-proof majority in both houses, any attempt to change how the 25th amendment works could just be vetoed by the president. So I don't think that's what they really have in mind.

More likely, this is just a dramatic way of pointing out that the president doesn't appear to be playing with a full deck.

                    Yup.

                    Overly-dramatic and yet still appropriate.

Considering that everyone - including Pelosi - knows it's doomed to fail, a "power grab" is just about the last thing it could be.

Then why are they discussing it less than a month before election? Are they just that delusional?

What's to be delusional about? Everyone sane - including Pelosi and the rest of the congressional Democrats - knows it can't/wont pass.

They've been discussing ways to remove Trump for the last four years. Congress has less than a 20% approval rating. If they don't believe discussing a way to remove Trump again that everyone knows won't work less than a month before election won't make them look bad to voters, then they're delusional.

Most likely either they think there's a chance, however tiny, that Pence might somehow be persuaded, or they figure that bringing it up would be beneficial to them in the election.
