No, I did not. You simply are unable to grasp the meaning.

I am perfectly willing to engage in a rational and dispassionate exchange with an interlocutor who can respond is a similar manner. You appear unable to do that.

Given the definition your provided on an earlier thread and which I quoted, yes you did.

You appear to want to adopt Humpty Dumpty's approach to the meaning of words.

I did like the movie (as did a great many others who don't have Americans' neuroses about sex). I thought it was a well-constructed story that made a number of good points.
America - too good to let the conservatives drag it back to 1950.

It opens with Amy coming home to face her furious mother and aunt who chastise her by stripping her to her undergarments and flicking water at her while they mutter [what I assume are prayers to drive out the devil]. A later scene has her visited by a male elder who assures her mother that Amy is not possessed.

What we see in Gondwanaland's rather crude comment is Amy effectively breaking down. She has recently started to menstruate and is now regarded by her aunt as a "woman" but she is still a girl. She and her friends have worked out a dance routine for a local competition. Their routine is overtly sexual because that is what these young girls assume is expected by society of young women.

Hence in that scene what she starts to do is perform some of the routine while her mother and aunt stand by in some consternation, thus leading to the male elder visiting her in a later scene.
Apart from the sexual nature, a stupid film then.

You think those who oppose the sexual exploitation of young girls are neurotic? Interesting.

A remark like that about a film that deals with the subjects found in Cuties/Mignonnes strikes me as remarkably shallow.

Again apart from the sexualisation of young girls, if I read the write up you have provided about the film on the back of a DVD cover for example I would have no interest in the story.

I thought it was a documentary on how little girls go from barbies to floor humping.

Is there something you are not telling me?

So in your world being concerned about preteens and barely teens being sexually exploited constitutes having a neurosis

It appears you are not a fan of cerebral films or films with a little more depth to them.

There are films from numerous countries that deal with the issues of growing up/coming of age within specific cultures.

I would also add that if you and others here are so concerned about young girls being exploited perhaps all of you should report back to your various churches and start campaigns to get those US toddler Beauty Pageants banned. Or start campaigns in in your respective states for your representatives to Congress [House and Senate] to ban child marriage across the entire country.

After all many Christian groups are heavily involved with campaigns to outlaw abortion.
