Snopes rates this as false, the list props now and then with more and more items added http://www.snopes.com/history/docume...unistrules.asp
It looks like bunk.

It's important to note that the author, nor I, didn't say it was written by the Communists themselves, only that they made their way into the Congressional Record back in the 60's. It's of interest to me to see how many of them have actually happened. That's what

Might want to downplay the first part of that letter that mentions that Rense fellow. A conspiracy theorist whose "radio and website promote views such as 9/11 conspiracy theories, UFO reporting, paranormal phenomena, creation of diseases, chemtrails, evidence of advanced ancient technology, emergent energy technologies, and alternative medicine." And who has also been deemed an anti-Semite. Just a peek at his website and you can tell he's completely unhinged.
As far as I can tell, these 45 goals originate from a book called The Naked Communist, written by Mormon author and conspiracy theorist W. Cleon Skousen who, throughout his interesting life was at different times an FBI special agent (doing mostly clerical work), a professor at BYU, a gestapo-like police chief in Salt Lake City, and founder/member of a number of far right conservative groups. I'm assuming it's because of how shady Skousen was, that the list is typically attributed to Albert Herlong Jr., who basically just rattled the list off from The Naked Communist.
Of course, none of that has much to do with the primary point I'm assuming you're making by pointing out that fears of certain issues (that we now take for granted as realities) were alive and well 50-some years ago.Last edited by Adrift; 07-13-2016, 08:23 AM.

Originally posted by Leonhard View PostIt goes further than that since the earlier versions of this list lack a lot of the items in the version you posted. The earliest tracked list only has ten of them. And as its not tracable to any communists themselves, I doubt it indicates an internal conspiracy of aging soviets inside America trying to bring it down from the inside.
If the circulated thing was altered over time, then you would have an example of the marksman fallacy. Sure, some of these things came to pass, because the document was changed to reflect this over time.

Education standards should be as local as possible. For example, President Bush's No Child Left Behind law had good intentions but the original implementation was very poor. Schools took a hit because mentally retarded students were supposed to be held to the same proficiency standards as anybody else. This would have been easier to fix on a local level.
States know better than the federal government what specific issues are unique to that area and how best to deal with them (for example, states with a high level of foreign language speakers, itinerant students, etc.) Micro-managing from high rarely works well."I am not angered that the Moral Majority boys campaign against abortion. I am angry when the same men who say, "Save OUR children" bellow "Build more and bigger bombers." That's right! Blast the children in other nations into eternity, or limbless misery as they lay crippled from "OUR" bombers! This does not jell." - Leonard Ravenhill
