Portland school board bans climate change-denying materials

The resolution passed Tuesday evening calls for the school district to get rid of textbooks or other materials that cast doubt on whether climate change is occurring and that the activity of human beings is responsible. The resolution also directs the superintendent and staff to develop an implementation plan for “curriculum and educational opportunities that address climate change and climate justice in all Portland Public Schools.”

The scientific community. Or at least a well educated School Board, to decide what sort of educational material such schools should have.

At any rate when it comes to climate change science the discussion has been over for almost two decades now, and pretending otherwise by simple giving students "alternative" educational material, doesn't fulfill the purpose of an education.

No, the point of a school is to teach students sound knowledge about the world. Not what deeply ideologically committed people want them to learn. There just isn't a real debate about Global Warming to be had anymore. If you disagree, head down to NatSci and argue your case.
