Making it no less pathetic. Still sad.

Investigate what? Whether or not you're an internet stalker or some nut with a grudge or what, exactly? Your actions speak for you.

    Sad.

Investigate Ken Ham's long and sordid history of producing anti-science bullcrap and conning honest but uneducated Christians out of their money.

Of course you don't need to get the facts before spouting off. You're sure you know everything you care to know already, right? Bertrand Russel had your sort pegged:

Source: Construction of Noah’s Ark theme park in Kentucky set to begin

Enough money has been raised by the creators of Kentucky’s Creation Museum that the construction of a Noah’s Ark theme park is almost set to begin on an 800-acre site in Williamstown, Ky.

The Ark Encounter park will contain a 510-foot replica of Noah’s famous vessel.

“We’re going to begin construction, and this is going to be great for the area,” Answers in Genesis president Ken Ham said in an online announcement Thursday night. “Let’s build the ark.” The plan is for the more than $120 million theme park to open in 2016.

The debate with Bill Nye earlier this month apparently generated a great deal of publicity which resulted in the funds being raised.

To be clear - Ham and company fell well short of the full amount needed for the Williamstown bond sales. However, the Louisville Courier-Journal reported that AIG purchased back a number of the bonds themselves to pass some never before announced "threshold" number that allowed Ham to get his hands on the portion that had been raised. Despite repeated requests the company handling the bond sales has not made public either the number sold or the amount of funds released to ArkEncounters. Just like with Ham's Creation Museum the new plan seems to be to start on some scaled back "Phase 1" construction and *pray* that causes more donations to come flowing in.

On his facebook page, instead of pushing the Nye debate so much, he's really been into flogging Arks:-

            1) His project.

            2) Blasting Hollywood's to be released blockbuster.

Ray Comfort has been pushing his own ark movie.

Maybe Ham is being clever. Secular folk probably could not give a hoot about Comfort's movie, nor Ham's ark. But the Hollywood blockbuster may recast the myth in a manner that makes a bit more sense to the secular folk. Hence, in the end, Ham may be able to tap into some funding as a spillover from renewed interest in the Biblical story.

As much as he labels the Hollywood movie as "unbiblical", he may yet rely on it to some extent.

More info on Ham's sleight-of-hand with the money is emerging. According to this Bloomberg report ArkProjects only got $10.5 million of the promised $62 million planned in the bond sale. That's roughly enough to take them through the first six months of construction. The bonds have the lowest possible credit rating - "no rating" - which means their chances of being repaid with interest to the investors is effectively zero.

              From the article

Williamstown issued the debt without a rating, making the prospect of repayment even less clear. More than 90 percent of municipal issuers in default initially offered bonds without a credit grade, according to Concord, Massachusetts-based Municipal Market Advisors.

Construction is supposed to begin in March, with Ark Encounter slated to open in April 2016. It will be built on about 200 acres, with 800 acres reserved for ventures such as hotels and restaurants, offering documents show.

The documents cite at least 39 risks to buyers, including that Answers in Genesis has no obligation to back the debt. Bondholders’ sole revenue stream comes from money spent at Ark Encounter.

Noah’s Ark Muni Deal for Kentucky Theme-Park Project Shrinks 83%
The whole thing stinks to high heavens. You can bet there was some shady backroom dealing being done to get Ham's Lark even this far.

So buying the bonds amounts to a donation, and donations have been sufficient to break ground.

Last I heard, the Creation "museum" hasn't been doing very well either. For one thing, it's very expensive to visit. For another thing, it's regularly updated with every new "creation science" discovery, which means never. To attract repeat business, they have begun to install amusement-park style rides, like "bibleland" parks across the South.

One thing we can be sure of, Ken Ham won't suffer any personal reverses from the financial failure of these enterprises. Fleecing the flock requires careful footwork.

I just wanted to clarify "false hope" refers to the promises to his audience that his science is true. It is not true science, and it is cruel to overpromise in this regard given the cost. Surely we can all agree on that.

Do you think he's doing it willfully and intentionally, knowing the fraud?
