Natural Science 301 Guidelines

This is an open forum area for all members for discussions on all issues of science and origins. This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. This means obvious trolling and flaming that becomes a problem will be dealt with, and you might find yourself in the doghouse.

As usual, Tweb rules apply. If you haven't read them now would be a good time.

  • Colonize Venus rather than Mars: Reasons

This youtube video gives reasons why we should colonize Venus instead of Mars. Hint: think cloud cities, like in Star Wars. Lando, Bespin.

Yes, but Mars is red. That trumps anything and everything Venus has to offer.
"When the Western world accepted Christianity, Caesar conquered; and the received text of Western theology was edited by his lawyers…. The brief Galilean vision of humility flickered throughout the ages, uncertainly…. But the deeper idolatry, of the fashioning of God in the image of the Egyptian, Persian, and Roman imperial rulers, was retained. The Church gave unto God the attributes which belonged exclusively to Caesar."

I remember reading something about a planet raining diamonds. That would be interesting.

Now if we can just find a planet that rains Skittles...
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." ― C.S. Lewis, God in the Dock: Essays on Theology (Making of Modern Theology)

In the pre-crash TWeb days I stared a thread about a planet being discovered some 40 light years away that was thought to be composed largely of diamond. Later analysis has called into question whether this is true.

There! An excellent reason to colonize Venus! Send scientists there to solve the mystery how Venus women can survive acid rain out in the open.

Maybe they're the descendants of Kryptonian colonists?
