Natural Science 301 Guidelines

This is an open forum area for all members for discussions on all issues of science and origins. This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. This means obvious trolling and flaming that becomes a problem will be dealt with, and you might find yourself in the doghouse.

As usual, Tweb rules apply. If you haven't read them now would be a good time.

True. And I think kidneys fail as well. (I was somewhat joking with that quip. I do like to say it however. )

Three hours later I woke up with some one knocking on the window of my 64 Chevy Impala Super Sport. I looked up and there were two cops. The car was running and stopped in front of the police station at a stop light. I was in the back seat using a large pizza as a pillow. Of course there was no one else in the car and I had no idea how I got there. The cops didn't arrest me, they just followed me home ( I lived about three blocks away) - it was a different time. Perhaps I had an early version of one of these computer drive cars?
As a kid and youth I never touched alcohol. But I used to listen to stories of peers going to parties and never remember driving home and making it to bed.

In my state, South Australia, a few decades back, well over a person a day would be killed on our roads. Then in came the drink driving laws, seat belt laws, and so on. These, coupled with improvements to roads and vehicle design all seem to have played their part and now our death rate is around 100 a year.

Young folk also seem to have a greater aversion to drink driving these days. I think it for the best given that we all drive so much more than people did when you and I were younger.

Nevertheless, I think you are right. Often back then we all had a different attitude and the police themselves could be quite lenient. I like stories of police playing guardian angel. They get a bad rap and this other side of them is not generally recognised.

The beauty of drinking too much water is that one merely drowns. But too much alcohol ....

Well yes. If you never drink, then you will never drive.
