Natural Science 301 Guidelines

This is an open forum area for all members for discussions on all issues of science and origins. This area will and does get volatile at times, but we ask that it be kept to a dull roar, and moderators will intervene to keep the peace if necessary. This means obvious trolling and flaming that becomes a problem will be dealt with, and you might find yourself in the doghouse.

As usual, Tweb rules apply. If you haven't read them now would be a good time.

I checked the last year of Paleontology Journal, and found about 18 new taxa in 78 articles. So how many fossil species have been discovered? Searching came up with this estimate: "The number of fossil species is not known accurately, but is in the same order of magnitude and may range between 60,000 (a conservative guess, Taylor & Lewis, 2007) and more than 100,000 species."

But the question is average species longevity, which is certainly not 2 years!

Gee, I wonder how many paleontology journals there are...

I was a bit surprised at how low Proceedings of the Royal Society B was.

And thanx for the link too

Thereisno legitimate question concerning the average(?) longevity of species concerning the validity pf the science of evolution

In terms of evolution you have to include multiple related species, subspecies and varieties living at the same time and evolving over time. These numbers are not meaningful/
