The controversial 'Shroud of Turin' is believed by many to be an authentic burial shroud of Jesus Christ.
(1) It is not acknowledged as authenticated as a Shroud of Christ by the Roman Church.
(2) all carbon dating has indicated it is of late manufacture. There are obvious problems with carbon dating in this case, which have been brought out in the previous thread. It is possible that the shroud is an older relect from 300-400 AD, and painted in 1300 - 1400 AD. The main problems are of course possible contamination, because of its history. Most reliable C14 dating is from archeological object isolated from contamination. The best results come form arid to semi-arid conditions.
(3) Some claim that analysis by Italian (ex-spurts) claim it could not have been faked. Need references on this claim.
(4) The most damning evidence is the presence of pigments and a painting medium in the shroud.
(5) There are also anatomical problems with the image that I may cite from references later.
