Researchers at the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz, headed by Dr. Michael Hölscher, have concluded that the New Testament book of Revelation (some times called the Apocalypse of John), is influenced by formal ritualistic curses directed at rivals and enemies and were quite common in the ancient world from the Mediterranean to Mesopotamia.
