  • Wallpapers - show off your best creations.

Well, now that Raphael has the image uploads working, I created this new Art Gallery forum, and this is the first thread!

This thread is for posting wallpapers for your computer desktop. I would like it to be ones that you have created yourself, through software, photography, etc., rather than just posting stuff you find on the internet.

Recently I have been playing with fractals. And I found a few neat programs for generating some awesome stuff.
Here are links to the free software I have used:
    Mandlebulber (3D fractals) - http://sourceforge.net/projects/mandelbulber/
    ChaosPro - http://www.chaospro.de/
    Jwildfire - http://www.andreas-maschke.com/?page_id=42

And here are some of the wallpapers I have created (resolution for all images is 1920 x 1080):

I call this one "Scorpion" (Jwildfire):
    Scorpion.jpg

This one is "Mandlebrot City" (Mandlebulber):
    Madlebrot City.jpg

and "Alien Eggs" (cuz it reminded me of those HR Geiger Alien eggs) (Mandlebulber):

Click to enlarge. then right click to save to your computer.

Not just "no", but "HECK no!"

"Click to enlarge." I was able to right-click one of Sparko's images and I could "save as . . . " WITHOUT enlarging the image beforehand. Why must I enlarge the image before . . . ?

I did another version of the "scorpion" - this one is more organic. looks kind of like blood vessels.

Geez, Sparko, these are awesome. Know of any good tutorials on how to do those kind of crazy shenanigans with those programs?

Not really. I just downloaded the software (see the links) and started playing with it. Then I go exploring till I find something interesting, then tweak the camera and settings to get it the way I want, then render it out. Then I put it in photoshop to make some final touches. I think of playing with fractals kind of like photography. In photography you don't create the subject, you just find the best way to make a nice composition of the subject, then photograph it, and then you can tweak it some more using filters, and such. That's why I find fractals so interesting. It's like exploring a whole world. I can spend hours just wandering around.

OK I used JWildfire to create this one especially for Mossy.

It's a fractal pink mossrose (or as close as I could make it)

Now if I could just figure out a way to make a fractal Rolling Pin...
