Home Economics 101

Welcome to the Home Ec Section. Matters of the family sometimes bring joy and other times bring grief. But it is never trivial: Family matters! Feel free to discuss topics such as the sanctity of marriage; the awesome responsibility of raising children; the struggles of communication problems; the grief of losing a loved one; or anything else that relates to the home and family. However, due to the more personal nature of this section, I ask that you would be especially thoughtful of the readers' feelings. My earnest hope and prayer is that the discussions in this section will help families grow in the love of Christ.

But remember, always play by the rules: here

Are you still confusing your beard dander with that?

Funny you should mention that Sparko. Coincidentally rogue tech has just marketed just such a device that is perfect for all of your or anyone else's needs.

We are of course working on a cheaper more economical model that doesn't come with the way kewl jet pack that is guaranteed to make you the envy of the neighborhood

I'm needing a pole pruning saw as well as hedge trimmer, I want the blower. And I am needing some more of the power tools for renovations I will be needing to do to the house (and it makes sense to stick with the Ryobi brand).

I will need another couple of batteries though (not an issue if I buy the kits as opposed to just the consoles)

It's a lot like handguns... I have a collection in different calibers, but that means I need to buy different bullets. I try to limit my handguns to the .38/.357, 9 mil, and 40 cal so I don't have to have a whole bunch of different kinds of bullets.

Same thing with cordless power tools... I don't want to have to have a whole bunch of different types of batteries and chargers. I'm transitioning to the Ryobi One+ system as I replace tools, so I can have a charger back in my shop, one in my office, and one in my travel tool bag. And the same battery works in quite a wide variety (over FIFTY) of tools and appliances.

I really like that the Ryobi mower uses DETACHABLE batteries, because a friend had a mower with a proprietary battery, and when it died, it was VERY EXPENSIVE to replace -- almost cheaper to buy a new mower. The fact that the Ryobi uses TWO of the same batteries increases the likelihood that you'll have a good charge when you're needing to mow.

Seriously, though, Raph.... I've used a lot of cordless tools, and Ryobi seems to be the best at battery life AND lifetime of battery. I checked some reviews on some of these mowers you're looking at, and see some pretty good stuff.
