I guess the question to ask is how many patients treated with hydroxychloroquine still died.

How effective at determining appropriate treatments is popularity among doctors? There are many counter-intuitive results which show the need for careful and scientifically driven studies.

Even now we are re-evaluating the use of ventilators in the face of this epidemic, the popular and conventional wisdom may not be quite right now.

This popularity survey is about what doctors are finding useful for treatment.

Ventilator reevaluation is because some doctors are finding that it is not useful in some cases, and not because of 'careful and scientifically driven studies'.

True, but it is a new disease. Over time, there will be an assessment of the various protocols used, a scientific assessment.

In the past doctors have thought they were using the best therapies, but scientific studies showed that they were not right.

Chloroquine is effective when used with zinc.

The Chloroquine has been described as opening up the path for zinc to enter the cell and destroy the virus. Hopefully I have said this correctly.

However, the Chloroquine is counterindicated for some patients with heart issues. Otherwise, its usage seems rather broad. This has been used as prophalactic drug when traveling to places where one might get malaria.

In normal times, it is precisely because of our need to deal with uncertain probabilities that clinicians and scientists use careful and measured language. There is a difference among no evidence, possible evidence, and evidence. Often the choices are not between "good' and "bad" but between two bad choices.

Trump tones down the chloroquine miracle cure:

                    https://www.politico.com/news/2020/0...navirus-196191

Why ask Fauci for scientific advice on medicines? Trump interrupted Fauci when asked about the drug's effectiveness. The political messaging ought not crowd out the reasoned responses.
