My wife's brothers used to take snakes and put them down her underwear when she was 3. Needless to say, she is deathly afraid of them now.

Why can't I ever be lucky enough to get a free snake?

I never kept snakes. When I lived in the desert a we found snakes occasionally, but they would be located back out into the desert away from town. People would kill them if you can imagine that.

ETA:

My remaining grand daughter has a couple of Corn Snakes. She has had them since pencil size. I believe they are at full size now. I have not seen them in a couple of years.

i like the picture on the news story. It shows the handler stretching the snake before shooting it across the room like a rubber band.
