"'Now I hear that it is sheep-shearing time." (1 Samuel 25:7)

So, what time of the year was that? Any one know? :clueless

Generally May and June. It was quite a festival, and often associated with a time of thanksgiving, for "God had provided the wool" for clothing and commerce.

May-June eh? (Sivan) Hey, what would we do without a farmer on the board?

It kinda makes sense, cause you want the sheep to have their coats on in the winter, so as soon as spring comes, you wait a couple weeks to see if you've had the last frost, then you shear! We're talking the Holy Land though -- Australia's shearing time would be different, cause they voted to have winter at a different time than the rest of the world. (or something like that)
