Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
This one’s for YOU!
Have you ever tried walking on unfamiliar ground on a moonless cloudy night without of any kind of light? One of our favorite activities Patti and I love to do while visiting the Great Smoky Mountain National Park is walking through the forest on one of the Quiet Walkways along the road going between Townsend and Gatlinburg. The Quiet Walkways are narrow dirt paths through the dense forest strewn with tree roots, twists and turns, even across narrow bridges. It would be impossible to walk them at night without some form of light.
Perhaps you’re on a Quiet Walkway the sun has gone down the batteries in your flashlight are powerless and you’re standing lost, alone, and quickly losing hope looking into the darkness it seems endless. “What am I doing here?” your voice breaks the silence, “what have I done to deserve this? Isn’t there somebody out there to help me? Please.”
Does that scenario have a familiar ring? Are you suffering from a loss of some sort? Have you lost or are you losing the light of a loved one or light from another source such as a job or health? Is that where life has taken you? If your answer is yes then I have some words of light for you coming from an unlikely source. “But I have trusted, leaned on, and been confident in Your mercy and loving-kindness; my heart shall rejoice and be in high spirits in Your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because He has dealt bountifully with me.” (Psalm 13:5–6, AMP)
You may have trouble believing them but even though they are from the Psalms they are words straight from you heart, planted not by the Psalmist nor me but by the Holy Spirit! And the Holy Spirit does most of Jesus’ work behind the scenes sometimes even in spite of our unbelief. Here is a brief reminder of how Jesus has blessed you. “In Him was Life, and the Life was the Light of men. And the Light shines on in the darkness, for the darkness has never overpowered it [put it out or absorbed it or appropriated it, and is unreceptive to it]… But the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, Standby), the Holy Spirit, Whom the Father will send in My name [in My place, to represent Me and act on My behalf], He will teach you all things. And He will cause you to recall (will remind you of, bring to your remembrance) everything I have told you.” (John 1:4–5, 14:26, AMP)
Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
Gary
