Teach me God to...
"You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you." (Isaiah 26:3 ESV)
The other day on my daily bike ride I stood on the shore of Lake Huron. The sun was high in the sky and getting hotter by the minute. Several white cotton ball style clouds silently moved from right to left. Behind me I could hear the flow of traffic as people headed for their destination. In front of me was the relentless sound of the waves rolling on the beach then retreating.
Standing there the words of a song I'd written for my bike rides were fresh in my mind. "Teach me God to listen, teach me God to hear. Tune my ears to hear you when you speak words of love compassion come into my heart. Tune my heart to hear them when you speak." I looked down and watched as the washing of the waves was constantly moving the sand inches from my feet. As the waves rolled in so did the sand. As the waves retreated so did the sand.
Suddenly and silently rather than looking at the shore of Lake Huron I found myself looking at what the cares of world was trying to do in me. Then powerfully and insightful today's verse spoke volumes to my fragmented and conflicted life, "You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you." (Isaiah 26:3 ESV)
Minutes later back on my bike I stopped momentarily of singing my song and silently thanked Jesus not only for singing it with me but giving me the lesson on listening and hearing.
"Teach me God to listen! Teach me God to hear! Tune my ears to hear you when you speak!"
Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!
