Glory Seed Guidelines

Notice – The ministries featured in this section of TheologyWeb are guests of this site and in some cases not bargaining for the rough and tumble world of debate forums, though sometimes they are. Additionally, this area is frequented and highlighted for guests who also very often are not acclimated to debate fora. As such, the rules of conduct here will be more strict than in the general forum. This will be something within the discretion of the Moderators and the Ministry Representative, but we simply ask that you conduct yourselves in a manner considerate of the fact that these ministries are our invited guests. You can always feel free to start a related thread in general forum without such extra restrictions. Thank you.

These daily devotionals are brought to you by Gary Piper, a writer with our Sister Site, Natural Spirit Ministries. TheologyWeb encourages you to visit and support their site.... they have many informative articles which can be discussed right here. If you enjoy Gary Piper's devotionals, please send him an encouraging note or post. We are very appreciative of our partnership with Natural Spirit Ministries and look forward to many more co-ventures.

Glory Seed Devotionals, 2015: Year of Promise
This day belongs to the LORD…

“When I was really hurting, I prayed to the LORD. He answered my prayer, and took my worries away…” (Psalms 118:5 CEV)

There are times when I struggle with the Psalmist’s testimony of verse 5 because there are times when I too pray yet those things that cause me to worry remain. And like Elijah who following the great victory over the prophets of Baal ran for his life I begin to question my faith and standing with the LORD.

“This day belongs to the LORD! Let's celebrate and be glad today… My power and my strength come from the LORD, and he has saved me…” Psalms 118:24, 14 CEV)

As I continue to plumb the depths of God’s promises the Holy Spirit reminds me that this day belongs to the LORD and not me. My strength is not the focus of the day it is the LORD’s strength that comes to bear in my life. I begin to realize with the help of the ever present Holy Spirit that worry begins not when things “go wrong” but when I begin depending on my own strength and worry free plans.

I remember quite a few years ago after giving my testimony of my “Prodigal Son story” and how I’d gotten away from God a well-meaning friend commented to me I’d been to honest. His comment has haunted me ever since and I struggle with how far I should go in sharing my “God Story” yet how can I illustrate God’s power and presence in my own life if I hide times when I’ve depended on my own feeble power?

I think an adequate description of my life thus far goes something like this: Because I am human I will live to worry another day yet because of my relationship with God and God’s relationship with me it is during my “worry times” when our relationship is strengthened.

The higher I lift God up the higher God lifts me up, the more I strengthen God the more God strengthens me! “And so my life is safe, and I will live to tell what the LORD has done.” (Psalms 118:17 CEV)

    Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!
    Grace and PEACE, Amen!
    Gary

The LORD gives strength to those who are weary… But those who trust the LORD will find new strength…” (Isaiah 40:29, 31 CEV)
