Jesus makes all things new…

In the following scripture Jesus makes reference to making is home in us! “Jesus answered him, “If a man loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.” (John 14:23)

One of my favorite pictures of Jesus is the one where he stands knocking at a door. The door signifies the entrance to our lives. In my imagination I can see Jesus knocking on my door and I can hear myself asking, “Who’s there?”

To which Jesus promptly says, “It is I, Jesus. May I come in?”

After picking myself up from the floor I’m off in a flash to clean up my house (life) not having a lot of time I push everything into a closet and quickly slam the door shut so everything stays in. Seconds later I open the door and say, “By all means Lord please come in.”

The instant his feet touch the dirt floor of my house I immediately feel at peace with the world and myself. “Lord, please let me wash your feet,” I say.

“There’ll time later for that right now I’d like to see what’s in that locked closet,” he replies moving toward it.

“No, please Jesus! Not the closet,” I plead. But my pleas go unanswered as his hand reaches for the doorknob, “Please forgive me Lord for trying to hide my sins from you.”

The only sound I can hear is the sound of the latch unhooking and the door swinging open. And then nothing! Raising my head all I see is an empty closet! “I don’t understand Lord,” I ask, in amazement.

Jesus says only one word, “Look.”

Scanning the rooms its same house yet the paint is no longer faded, the dirt floor is now carpeted, the windows are so clean their nearly invisible, and the cupboard doors are no longer falling off, “What’s happening?” I ask.

“I not only forgive sins but I make all things new as well,” Jesus answers.

How about you Jesus knocked on the door of your heart lately?

Believe! Anticipate! Experience! Be transformed!
Grace and PEACE, Amen!

The LORD gives strength to those who are weary… But those who trust the LORD will find new strength…” (Isaiah 40:29, 31 CEV)
